Been wanting to post this for a while but TRU has finally updated their site about it. I didn't really want to make a new topic either, but I guess I will anyway. I tried to fit this into the deals thread but it was too huge of a post and I hate having random WoT's in the middle of someone elses' thread.

As many of you already know Amazon (if not already available) and Toys R Us are joining the used game trade-in market with the few other retail stores who are doing the same. TRU's started up in July but they're value site is finally up and running so you can check the value of games before you even enter the store.

Online Trade-in:
-Print out the shipping label and shipping will be free for trade-ins of 10 dollars or more
-"Complete games" are games that include the working game, original box and artwork. "Incomplete games" include a working game, but does not need the box or artwork for a lesser value.

Things to note:
-TRU does not sell used games. Games taken in are (to my understanding) "recycled" to either be donated to worthy causes, sold by an independent team on things like ebay and etc
-You must be 18 years or older to trade in
-The value of the game(s) is returned in the form of a gift card usable on anything in the store.
-Games must include the disc case, scannable UPC code, and the instruction booklet(In-store. Online trade-ins are noted as "Incomplete" without).(Strictness is based by store lol)
-Trade-in shows immediate value and can be cacelled at any time.
-All game systems are taken but PC games are NOT
-Trade-in is possible online.

Pros:
-Newest games yield almost their full value
-You can spend your money for your crappy DS games on your kids' Christmas Toys
-Able to look up the value online rather than having to call the store or visit

Cons:
-Need the book for In-store trades.(Used games from places like gamestop often don't have the book with them)
-Sometimes inconsistent pricing(Though it is based on rarity and the value of the game at the store itself, a good example of a ?? moment is Final Fantasy XII for $5 versus Way of the Samurai 2 for 9.45)
-No super deals yet(ex. "Trade in your Call of Duty 4 and get 10% bonus credit towards Modern Warfare 2)

Most of any other info can be found on the website. I'm sure theres some great schemes out there that can yield profit from buying games, getting the artwork, sticking a UPC code on it and trading it in for profit. If it's not that great of a deal feel free to say so :D Obviously the best value you can get on any game is selling it to people directly, but if you cant do that, and if you don't like keeping watching for special trade-in deals at gamestop, I do(and have done it myself) recommend giving this a try.
