Increasing resoulution
i was just wondering how do you increase your game resolution beyond the game limits. i went into the registry and tried to change 003/004, they work at 500 and looks OK but i've seen other screen shots that look damn near sexy. im using 500/500 atm but would like higher if possible.. treed 1k/1k but when got to select character screen loaded slow as hell, and ended up crashing and not letting me get back on til i changed the stats and rebooted.

whats your default resolution for your monitor?
-
for ffxi its the highest 1028x1028? for pc not sure how i check?
-
Graphics card quality is one of the lesser factors, so long as you have ATI. How much RAM do you have, and more importantly, what's your processor speed and architecture?
-
Regedit>Local>Software>PlayOnline>SE>FFXI
Change 0001 and 0002 to your desktop resolution. IE: mine is 1440 and 900
Change 0003 and 0004 to however high res your pc can handle. IE: mine is 2560 and 2560.
If you cant do 1k/1k, what you have now is probably the best youre gonna get w/o a GPU upgrade.

I find it's a lot easier to make changes as well as not fucking things if using this instead of direct registry edits: FFXI Calculator - The last tab lets you change game/visual settings.

the GUI launcher of windower also can handle this easily. IF you do edit values, make sure to click decimal, not hexidecimal. If you set it to 1000 under hex, that's actually a 4096x4096 background resolution, far too much.

i got the FFXI Calculator (very nice ty for that) but how do i attach it to ffxi? when i change to best resoution and hit apply nothing changes, same for lowest resoution

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 with 512MB VRAM. My background resolution is 1680 by 945, should I try to match the registry to that?
