Bust out your flannel shirts,
Soundgarden has reunited!! Frontman
Chris Cornell took to his Twitter account to make the official announcement that the band is back together. Or as he put it "
The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again. http://www.soundgardenworld.com."
Soundgarden enjoyed much of its success as " Seattle grunge" music reigned supreme on the charts in the mid-90's. The band's break-through album
,SuperUnknown, was propelled by hit singles in "
Spoonman," "The Day I Tried to Live," and of course, "
Black Hole Sun." To this day, the video for "Black Hole Sun" still creeps me out like no other.
It's
rumored Soundgarden has planned a west coast tour for the spring and are considering a performance at Cochella. No details have been released yet, but if you visit their
new site you can sign up for alerts on the band.
Now, I've given Cornell crap in the past with his solo releases, but have to say I'm stoked to hear the band has reunited. Cornell has one of the greatest voices in rock music - glad he'll be using it again. For good measure, check out the video for "Black Hole Sun" -
after the jump -- creepy!!
