File Sharing Software?

I have been looking around and have not really found what I am looking, although it might not even exist...

Basically I am look for what Windows Home Server is just in an application form... I want to set up a folder structure on my HTPC as a FTP Server for the most part with user accounts etc... It would like if it had a neat interface like Home Server.

I did find Opera Unite browser that seems like it might be close... although I would prefer a static web address with a login screen to access.

Any advice?

I'm just taking a stab since there aren't any replies yet, but have you looked into Orb at all? I think I recall it performing similar functions as well as allowing remote access to media.

Some searching also turned up a home server program called Amahi as an alternative to WHS, though I can't comment on anything about it personally. Might be worth checking out. Sorry, this seems to be a linux-based OS and not an application!
