it's not really worth it for them to continue their ps2 emulator development. on a side note, they're less than 50$ used.

Correct me if it's gotten better, but last time I tried that emulator it only sorta worked on like half the games. Extremely buggy, distorted/no audio, etc. You're really better off just buying a used PS2, they're cheap as shit.

I have a PS2.. I just spend alot of time inbetween class/breaks at work (I get like 90min alone which kinda sucks since it's in such a remote place). Would just like to play some games on my laptop ;3 I've played pretty much everything on my ePSXe ;3

Unless you have a pretty hardcore gaming laptop, I don't know if it'll be able to handle the ps2 emulator.

I have tried emulating ff12 on my laptop, its not the best laptop but it can run orange box well, and despite my best efforts i could never get it to run at more then 10fps. I somehow managed to actually get it to work, but it was extremely slow. Nonetheless it doesn't hurt to try, ive heard that ff12 had some issues of some sort emulating compared to other games so perhaps i couldve had better luck with that.

On my current desk top (i7 920, 6 GB RAM, 5770 (XFired atm, but used without before) I can play almost any game fine. Only game I've had crashes/artifacting with so far is SW: Bounty Hunter (although its playable), FFXII played perfectly for me, had some dissapearing/weird panels in P4 (or 3, forgot) when they went off screen but nothing that stops you playing.

You could always try games like Disgaea if you can't play something like FFXII well, my old desktop couldnt play 12 at all but played Disgaea.

Or find sites dedicated to game torrents, like BlackCats, BitGamer, and Underground Gamer.

Just to give something of a base line. I have ran FF10/10-2/12 & Persona 3/4 at ~50+ FPS w/ speed hacks and lower settings on a high end core 2 duo, 4 gb ram, and 8800 gtx. You don't need a super computer to run it if you are willing to sacrifice some quality.

I have some questions regarding PCSX2, if anyone would be kind enough to help. I started playing FF12 on this, and it usually runs fine, but sometimes I get a drop in framerate to about 40 fps. Is there a way to put the settings on low or anything? BTW, I play on the 0.9.7 beta build. (is 0.9.6 better?)

Also, In the window of PCSX2, there are various numbers which I've kinda figured out I think: EE is processor, and GS is my graphic card. What I don't get is why the GS (if it is indeed my graphic card) is only running at 50%~, while EE maxes out. Any ideas?

Definitely use the beta. It's 2000+ code revisions worth of fixes and improvements over 0.9.6, and it's relatively stable. It's also got speed improvements.

EE = Emotion Engine, GS = Graphics Synthesizer. They're the PS2 CPU & GPU.

Graphics settings are controlled in the graphics plugin settings (you should be using GSDX on Windows, period).
