HI there,
After searching/reading so many forums, posts about FF14 hardware
I have recently brought a new Desktop just for FF14, since the laptop I bought last year only scored around 750 for ff14 benchmark.
with the new desktop, i5 650 with an HD5770 graphics card, I have managed to get my benchmark score up to 3xxx for low, 2xxx for high, which is, good enough to play ff14 for sure.
of course, I have signed up for Open Beta on the first day, got my account and then start my new journey with ff14 on my new desktop, yep, it works great.
After few hours of Open Beta testing, I thought, why not try it on my laptop, see how "BAD/crap/useless" that my laptop is for ff14, since my laptop can play Crysis, COD 6 without any issue when I used the highest settings in game (with Crysis, there is a bit of lag, and I will post my laptop specs after work)
Guess what,
without changing ANY configurations for FF14 game play on the laptop for the first time, my laptop managed to run it without much difficulties (a bit of lag), therefore I have changed the settings such as resolution, shadows (basically, set various things to mid-low range, to a level that can handle, character display properly, and still looks smooth, no weather effect tho.)
Then I realized that, wow, is it necessary to upgrade to just fit the minimum requirement? (to at least achieve benchmark score 1500)
I saw someone posted that he only got 300 for his score and he still manage to play ff14 open beta on basic setting for ff14.
this comes to a conclusion of, for the people who scored under 1500 for the first benchmark, you "should" be able to play ff14 under open beta (I am not saying that you will be able to play it when it is officially launched)
if your laptop/desktop scored less than 1500 and you still manage to play it, please post here and we can have more information about what is the "possible minimum system requirement" to play ff14
thanks
