Enabling both monitor and TV HDMI?

So I just got a new TV, and I'm wanting to be able to switch between using it as my monitor and using my normal monitor, preferably in HD (though that might not be possible). Here's what I'm looking at:

My tower has an HDMI input in the case, but this doesn't seem to be active, and I can't figure out how to get it operational (on W7). Currently my monitor is using the single HDMI port on my Radeon 5750. So I have two HDMI ports, but I'm not sure how/if I can use them both for video output.

I had planned to hook my monitor up by DVI, but lacked the foresight to make sure my monitor actually supports it, so whoops. The main reason I was going to do this was that my monitor has speakers but they suck, and I have other speakers that don't. I imagine I could use a DVI-HDMI converter-- would that be worthwhile, or is there a better solution?

    Thanks!

If it is properly connected to your motherboard, there should be a setting in your BIOs if it supports such inputs. If that is an output port, it might be your onboard video card so that is a different beast altogether (probably also enabled in BIOs)

You'll need a HDMI-splitter to display with one single HDMI output from your graphics card. And to date, I don't think any video card supports simultaneous output to both HDMI and DVI at the same time though you can switch from one to the other.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think this will work? http://www.google.com/products/catal...CBUQ8wIwAzgA#p

If not I don't mind switching, since I have no real particular need for them to display simultaneously. I just thought it would be easier to deal with. Edit: And assuming it will work to display video on both screens, should I have to do any additional configuring to get my monitor on the DVI to support sound on the speaker jack?

Odds are that the second "inactive" HDMI is part of the internal graphic chipset which cannot work at the same time as your graphic card.

Get a DVI to HDMI cable to plug your TV on your 5750 and yeah it will work simultaneously.

Thanks for the suggestions. If I do a DVI to HDMI cable, will my TV still produce audio or will that have to come from my PC speakers?
