Haven't seen anyone do anything like this here yet, so I'm hoping to get the ball rolling. I ran a few quick tests on my own doing what I can and jotting down the numbers. Had some interesting results so far for as little time I've put in.
Currently doing this on 24 GLA with a brass dagger.
To start I attacked Iron Coblyns. I simply counted the number of hits I landed until I killed, checked the total durability loss and divided by the number of hits. The totals from those fights were as follows.
Fight 1: 8 hits totaling 577 durability loss, an average of ~72 per hit.
Fight 2: 10 hits totaling 636 durability loss, an average of ~64 per hit.
Fight 3: 6 hits, 2 being Phalanxes, for a total of 583 durability loss, an average of ~97 per hit.
Fight 4: I counted my misses this time. 11 hits (3 misses), for a total of 582 durability loss, an average of ~53 per hit or ~73 if misses are counted.
From here I decided to count hits individually and attacked marmots which I can take down in two hits.
My first hit would ALWAYS do 51 durability damage. My second hit would do between 45-48 durability damage. There was one discrepancy where the second hit also did 51 durability damage however I took hits before I could check the numbers and I am not sure yet if taking damage subtracts from weapon durability, so I'm not sure if that second hit number is normal or flawed.
I do know parrying will do durability damage but I am unsure on exact numbers at this time. I was only able to record the change after two, which was 152 or avg of 76 per parry.
I also found that abilities and spells do a set amount of durability damage when cast. Obsess does 76 while Shock Spikes and Ferocity both do 61 durability damage per cast. I haven't messed around with cure a lot yet but I can say for certain that it will do no durability damage if it doesn't heal HP. I'm going to try to see if the damage is flat or based on amount of HP healed soon.
Addendum:
After I wrote that first part I stopped and did some more testing. This time LNC 20 with brass spear.
Two-shotted two Star Marmots. Each time losing 102 durability or 51 per hit which is in line with the previous testing on those marmots with dagger.
Tried some Copper Coblyns next and this is where the previous numbers fly out the window. These were also two shotted. The numbers were a little less stable coming in at totals of 334, 260, 319, and 362. Divided that comes up with avg loss per hit on each mob at 167, 130, 159.5 and 181 respectively. This is way higher than the marmots for the same amount of hits. Something is odd here for sure.
Last on spear I attacked a nearby Bumble Beetle to check how it's durability damage weighed in against the other test sbjects. Again I 2 shotted it for a total of 246 durability or 123 avg per hit.
Finding the results odd I switched back to GLA and attacked more beetles. I once again two shotted two beetles and compared the numbers. Also I noted that the first strike left both at a sliver of health. The results were very interesting. On the first beetle my first attack took 123 durability and the second only took 5 durability. The second beetle first attack once again did 123 durability and the second attack only did 10. Comparing this to above with the Spear numbers it seems as though the amount of durability damage done is related to the amount of real damage done to the enemy with a cap per hit on durability loss at an unknown percentage of damage done per attack.
To close testing I one shotted a couple more Coblyns and a midge swarm. Both Coblyns yielded 259 durability while the Midge Swarm did 129 durability.
I will try to do more testing and refine numbers when I get time and assistance.
In closing, from this testing the following things are known about durability loss on weapons:
-There is a cap per attack on durability damage.
-The amount of durability loss received is related to the percent of real damage done to the mob.
What percent this caps at is currently unknown. At least below 50% damage per attack.
-Different mobs, or mob types, cause different amounts of durability damage.
It is unknown what factor determines the amount of durability damage a certain mob type causes. Anecdotal evidence leans towards a mob's "hardness." More armored mobs show more durability damage than softer targets.
-Actions have a set durability cost per action.
Does casting an action like Shock Spikes as AoE and tagging multiple people cause more durability damage?
-Cure will cause no durability loss if no HP is healed from it.
Does the amount of durability loss from Cure scale with amount of HP cured?

-Does a weapon's material factor into durability loss?
-How does durability loss work for offensive spells?
