Port Triggering - FFXI (/sigh...)

I have a terrible DSL Modem given by my ISP company... A D-Link DSL 2640-B.

Basically, I need to configure Port Triggering in order to play FFXI with it. However, I'm having a hard time.

This (an old firmware Screenshot) is what I need to do:

However....

Whenever I try to set the

Trigger Ranges : 51000 - 55000

and the

Port Ranges : 50000 - 65535

I get this message for BOTH parameters:

And it gets even worse:

Some applications require that specific ports in the Router's firewall be opened for access by the remote parties. Port Trigger dynamically opens up the 'Open Ports' in the firewall when an application on the LAN initiates a TCP/UDP connection to a remote party using the 'Triggering Ports'. The Router allows the remote party from the WAN side to establish new connections back to the application on the LAN side using the 'Open Ports'. A maximum 32 entries can be configured.

So basically, if you do the math, I have a limit range of 1000 for 2 parameters for and a 32 entries only restriction.

So it is impossible for me to set the interval range manually.

Is there any way to raise this range over 1000 so I can get it done? How?

Normally, you can change your router's functionality by doing one of three things:

1. Updating its firmware. If the manufacturer has newer firmware available, it may come with new options, but it also may do nothing noticeable.
2. Access its Administrator/Advanced menu. Not all routers even have one of these, and some may hide it (which you'd have to Google about). I doubt yours has anything you haven't seen already.
3. Flashing your router with third party software, like DD-WRT or Tomato. My router uses the former. Unfortunately, your router is not compatible with either.

That aside, there is likely nothing you can do besides buying a new router. When you do that, however, it's good to buy those which are most highly recommended by the internet community for those who game, download, etc., heavily; if the most recent one is too pricey for you, you can safely go a few generations back.

Is there a reason you're triggering over forwarding? Also, are you sure that's actually necessary? Forwarding/Triggering ranges that big seems overkill. I'm not even sure why you'd need to forward/trigger ports in both the router and modem, generally I thought with a DSL connection the modem was bridged to the router and just passed everything through (you could try googling guides for setting up a router with your modem to see if this is mentioned). Realistically you should only really need to enable UPnP within your router and you'd be set to where the router and FFXI would negotiate which ports to open as needed.

I guess if you're set on forwarding, though, given the error message you could try to do the port-range in sets of 1000? Like 51000-51999, 52000-52999, and so on.
