Configuring DNS (Bind) on Ubuntu

Hello all, trying something really simple here and it's not working, trying to configure Bind9 on a Ubuntu 13.04 64 bits servers on VMWare

Here are my configs

1) My Ip static config

This my named.conf.local as you can see it uses db.domain.local as a file
and my rev file for the reverse

Both files exist and are writtent the ame way

3) This is my rev file



4) This is my db.domain.local file



I restarted bind and all, what and when i try to ping exemple mba.domain.local it says cannot find (like if it<s not in the DB file)

Also if I do dig a mba.domain.local i see the info but no ip address written

What can i do? I know i am missing something stupid

I have to ask, are you are incrementing the serial after you make changes? I noticed that the serial is completely different in the reverse vs the forward. If not do that in both files (the date format in the rev is a really good way to do it), restart bind

I just took the number that were in the exemple file from Ubuntu

What should i put there?

I added +1 to each serial in the files and still says unknown host when i do ping mba.domain.local

PS If i ping 192.168.2.13 it works

Where I work we use the date + revision

2013070100 (if I made an update today)
2013070201 (if I made an another update today) and so forth

Everything looks right to me though.. Unless its one of those things that bind doesn't have right to read those files. I did some googleing on that and it doesn't seem like Ubuntu by default sandboxes or chroot bind.

Try these commands for trouble shooting typos (hopefully I didn't typo them!)

named-checkzone domain.local /etc/bind/db.domain.local

named-checkzone 2.168.192.in-addr.arpa. /etc/bind/rev.2.168.192.in-addr.arpa

named-checkconf /etc/bind/named.conf.local

I've never set up bind so not sure, from glancing over it seems like nothing is amiss in your files.

Fixed, just used ubuntu 12.04 and worked #1
