There are a couple of old ones I found via search but - meh, they're old, and in general (when I think it should be in here).
IDK if anyone cares, but I certainly do, so here you go!
My first contribution:
I have only recently begun listening to this concerto. I prefer the Martha Argerich version but Yuja Wang always has a certain brightness and an unmatched level of technical expertise in her performances.
My second contribution, and my FAVORITE FUCKING PERFORMANCE OF ANY CONCERTO, EVER:
this is the piece that got me started on concerti, and I still haven't found anything that comes even close. Olga's not the best outside of this piece, but she OWNS Rach 3 like nobody's business. from the technical expertise to the pounding violence of the cadenza to the unbelievable fluidity of her emotional expression, I absolutely love this performance. I am not joking when I say this is going to be played at my wedding reception, during the dinner (well, if I ever get married...)
If people want to discuss/share their love of classical music, please feel free. If not, I will just... uh... keep posting I guess!
Also if you perform or even just play for fun, please feel free to share your experiences, thoughts, favorite composers, songs, etc.
Right now I'm learning:
I've got about eight bars of the last section to go (four fucking stanzas, REALLY Sergei??), at which point I anticipate the remainder of the piece to be fairly easy. Then it's just polish, polish, polish (especially that middle section, as well as the crossed-over-hands chordal progressions in the middle of the first and third sections). Unfortunately, school and work have put this on hold... but I will finish!
also,
