I think SE is forcing tanks to grind through DF and Alexander by sabotaging their lots.

I ran 32 Turn 3s and 16 turn 2s as PLD and always rolled less than 20. It got to the point where I thought my days of being cursed had returned. I got bored and decided I would take my BLM out for a change. On each turn I rolled higher than 60 and after 4 runs of A3 and 1 run of A2 I got my loot.

Lo and behold I am trying to get my last drop on A1 as PLD and I can't lot anything higher than a 16. So I switched to BLM after 6 tries and lotted a 92. I lost to a 96. The last run I lotted 77 and won.


Proposed Conspiracy: SE are sabotaging tanks lots to force them to do more Alexander runs. The effect of course, as is clear from my own experience, even less people will que as their tank job once they've caught on.

Reinstall FFXI and go hit the ebony panels at Elvaan, Mithra, Galka, Taru, Hume in that order and then log back in and do your Alexander raid and your lots will be unbeatable. This has the be accomplished on a fresh account before going above the Lv.75 cap.

Technically, this would be a hypothesis, not a theory. Theories require proof and testing that can validate said theory.

Having said that, if SE wanted to affect tanks, couldn't they just drop less tank gear instead of screwing with individual lots?

Make it a 6% drop rate instead of an 8% drop rate and you just increased the number of runs a tank needs by 33% to get their gear compared to others.

Besides, if you want good lots you just need to be standing next to a ninja when you lot. They have the treasure hunter trait that follows them because they are the spiritual successor to XI's thief.

I'm my group's tank and I'm always the first or second person to finish drops for each wing. I've always been blessed by rng gear luck though.

If they were separate items, yes. But in the case of tokens they can't fuss with drop rates for a specific job because everyone turns in the same items.

Our raid watsap group was renamed to Final Coil of Tankamuth. Second most drops in our raiding history after DRG (which stopped dropping in final Coil once we got a DRG in the static, of course). Everyone can counter other people's anecdotal evidence with their own.

I've had two experiences with similar results for my old static WAR. We did 13 runs for his feet one week and ~12 for his legs the next. We were PUGing 1-2 DPS and they won every lot over him. It was nuts. More the likely RNG but we were WTFing that night.

We also know SE does fluff things. Like the server is full message every night during prime time. If you cancel it and log in again you go right in without the wait.
