    Retro Achievements

This seems like something that could deserve its own thread. IDK if anyone here is already using RA but it's pretty neat.

Basically just adds achievements to retro games, all you have to do is use RetroArch (which a lot of us are using already) and sign in. There are a few exceptions though, such as PS2 which uses PCSX2. Just depends on the system.

I'm VerucaSweet on RA if anyone else decides to sign up or already has an account. This has really motivated me to play older games. Now I can truly say I've mastered Soul Blazer

Support exists for games all the way from Atari to Saturn, with PS2 having been just added. The only real downside is that all of the achievements are made by volunteers, so your favorite game may or may not have a set. The coverage is fairly extensive though, I've been surprised at how many niche games have been added.

Currently working on Trails in the Sky FC PSP myself, although I am sorely tempted to check out the Suikoden III set that was just released. But I'll probably wait until I replay I and II in the HD remaster first.

I'm curious about the Suikoden 3 achievements because I don't think there's anything in that game I didn't accomplish.

Using RetroArch is also a bit of a downside, anything past like PS1 and you'd be way better off using a standalone emulator.

RetroArch is great for how it made things easier by combining all that stuff into one program, but they are so so slow about getting some of those emulators updated. Fine for stuff that has been perfect for years (anything from the SNES/Genesis era, PS1 or Dreamcast), but the Saturn or anything from the PS2 generation or newer performs so much better outside of it.

It's mostly what you'd expect. Achievements for basic story stuff and then higher-tier achievements for collectathon stuff (e.g. get all bath scenes) and obscure things like the Suikoden I and II-related easter eggs.

Oh yeah let me edit the main post, that's a good point. Some systems allow for outside emulators, such as PS2 which uses PCSX2. As they add more systems like Gamecube going ahead, I imagine you'll see more emulators being added as well.

I just finished setting up a RPi4 retroarch setup, I'll give it a whirl. Would be nice to do achievements on some of the stuff I've been playing. Doing a Mother 3 playthrough atm since I never got to play it.

Bullseye support has been pretty spotty. I had to edit the install script and do a bit of manual work to get it going. Has me wanting a proper 1U emulator setup though.

    I hate using RetroArch

Also, my version of Suikoden 1 + 2 will have much better achievements than the remaster.

RetroArch does have the Mega Bezel shaders which look absolutely amazing, I don't think any other emulator really offers any kind of shader as comprehensive
