Reinstall Problem

Bought a new laptop and installed FFXI+Expansions on it. Everything installed clean, but I cannot connect to their update servers. 1160'd every time. I know the internet is working correctly. I've eliminated the router, firewall, antivirus, and ISP restricting ports from the suspect list. The version of PoL/FFXI I am installing is the original NA release version. Is there some sort of update to the PoL updater I need to download? Or any other ideas for a solution?
