old FFXI account

the last time i played FFXI was over a year ago...and i was wondering if..
i could still re-activate my account after all of this time.

id check for myself with playonline, but i think i lost my original ffxi CD's.

Im not really sure how it works, but i know when SE does their "Return to Vana'Diel" program they can recover REALLY old accounts (although they arent always in the exact state you left them; sometimes an old save).

It seems like they just save backups of the toons on a seperate server until they run the event- someone on here probably knows more about it than me though.

yeah, i actually quit before i quit a 2nd time years ago. i did the return to vanadiel. and i had most of my stuff, by 0 gil since i gave it all away.
but dunno, i can't seem to find anything on the playonline website.
i think im retarded <_<;

If you cancelled the content ID but kept POL active, you can reactivate whenever you want.

If you cancelled POL itself, you're screwed after a certain amount of time.

but what if you deleted a character is there any way to get it back? because i deleted my character like a year ago and i want it back but i dont wanna waste my time harrassing(sp?) pol

You should be able to get your character back. I had deleted Guyver(my taru) once when I thought I was gonna have to quit because of school. But 2 weeks later, was able to play. So I called the POL tech support, told them and they said every character has a One time character restoration. They will ask you what your char's name was, lvl, your highest job and sub for It, rank,etc. Took mine about a week... but If its been over a year, dunno If they can still... worth a try though

aghhh..."one time character restoration" is what i should be worried about.

i quit before and came back when i saw the "Welcome Back to Vana'Diel" event. so dunno if that counts..
and it'll be hard to remember my chars lvls + ranks. i had 2, both with 4-5 jobs over 50 and 1-2 jobs over 60 (i couldnt stay with one job ><)

My friend tried to get his account back after deleting it 1 week after the 3 month dead line.

SE was unable to restore his char.

He tried many times.

Apparently there is a 3 month period before you char is purged completely if you "deleted" it.

On my first char I quit for 4 months. When I came back to FFXI POL was unable to restore my character. I had to start over, etc...

So, I got level 75 in my new character (Before EXP update I might add) when the first Return To Vanadiel campaign started. So, I used that campaign to get my first character back, it is a mule now, but it felt good getting it back.

I reactivated an account last week that had not been played on since June 2006 and it had all items and everything still on there.

This was changed from 3 months to a year a while back.

If you actually deleted your character, you need to call PoL, no other option. If you simply stopped paying, all you have to do is log in, reactivate content IDs, and put in new card info, and you'll be good to go.

I've helped 2 friends come back to the game, one after an 11 month absence. (neither deleted though)

I can't speak for restoring a deleted character, but reactivating your account is a fairly easy process.
