Dynamis Lord Invincible?

During my LSs first attempt at killing Dynamis Lord we got him to 1% and he began summoning duplicates of himself and proceeded to wipe us.

The thing I found strange and have never read about in all the DL posts, was during the 5 seconds or so when he was summoning the duplicates of himself he was completely invincible.

Even more strange was that several members of the shell said that DL went to 0% and his life bar turned grey on their screen...yet he didn’t die.


Has anyone seen this behavior before?

i dont have much experience with DL in that respect, but when fighting prudence and he teleports to eat some blms, nukes that land either just before or just after teleporting (cant remember which) have no effect on him

for anyone thats played ff12, its sorta similar when you are fighting the mobs that port around, and any action during that animation have no effect... maybe its a programming thing to prevent the mob from dying mid-teleport

(ps im not usually a stickler about spelling/grammar, but running that through MSword before you post would help - not so much that its not readable, its just distracting)

It does not take damage during summoning. Its always been like this.

really? we've killed it while it was summoning before. It died and had the summoning animation around its dead body. (like when you kill a SMN or BST mob mid summon)

it's when he summons himself for a triple ws i think. if you look closely, he actually does the summoning animation, then vanishes for a moment, then pops up on whatever targets he wants to obliterate. (i'd guess the top 3 people on his hate list as i've seen it where 2 copies rape the melees while a third copy comes up to shove an implosion into the mages.) my guess is this works like prudence where the very moment it vanishes a spell or ws or melee hit can still score as he's turned invisible, but before he comes back. at that moment, all damage will do nothing to him and all spells will register as "resist" much in the same way if you score a spell on a besieged mob as he warps, though the means of their warping is dramatically different.

Sounds like we just got unlucky.
It was very unfortunate that we were unable to RR and nock off that last 1% .

I may be wrong but doesn't DL have Shadow Mantle/Shadow Ring equipped, meaning he'll will occasionally take 0 damage from phys/magic?

That was a popular theory back when everyone was newb with DL, so don't LOL @ him too hard, you probably believed it at one point, haha.

I'm sorry I've never beleived any theories about mobs wearing their own things they drop.

The reason fafnir doesn't attack 2-3 times is because the ridill was his treasure..Among all the other goodies.
