So is there any way to keep the same LS name if the LS holder quits or you want to transfer to another person?

I was told that if the leader broke the LS, then dropped it... that would make the name available again. At which point, someone could purchase a new LS and give it the same name as the one that was tossed... then it would magically pick up all the existing pearls that had been distributed from the old shell.

This sounds far-fetched to me... but I was wondering if that (or anything else) would accomplish the goal.

Obviously, anything is better than a total repearl, lol.

I don't know if the two responses so far misunderstood the question, or if I misunderstand or what, but I take the OP to be asking if you can break a shell and make a new one with the same name with a different shellholder, to which the answer is a definitive yes. In my time in Kupo, the shell has been remade twice when there was change in leadership (and it was done a couple times before, from what I understand) and always with the same name. I'm not entirely sure about the process involved in order to retain the name, though.

The question was whether or not making a new LS under the same name would reactivate the old pearls of the same name, or "unbreak" them.

If I ever make an HNM LS, we're making new pearl with new name every month or so. Gotta keep it fresh, yo.

OK... so new pearls are a definite then, it seems.

Anyone know the process for retaining the same name of the LS? Here's my guess:

Leader breaks LS
All pearls become inactive
Leader tosses LS from inventory (do all members have to toss as well?)
New leader buys a new LS
New leader names LS same as old LS (does color matter?)
New leader passes out pearls to existing members and sacks members as he/she sees fit
????

That's how it works.

My current LS has broken / reformed (same name) slightly different color each time once every few months.

Once the shell is broken, all members on the shell get a message saying the linkshell no longer works. You need to drop it yourself to free up the space.
