LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Peter Jacobson and Anne Dudek have landed recurring roles on Fox's hit medical drama "House."

Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) will apparently have a new group of students to annoy.

The four are expected to play characters who will be brought in after the resignations of House's (Hugh Laurie) underlings Foreman (Omar Epps) and Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) and the firing of Chase (Jesse Spencer).

Wilde will play a young doctor called Thirteen who will work closely with House. She most recently was on NBC's "Black Donnellys" and has had roles on Fox's "The O.C." and "Skin" and in the films "Alpha Dog" and "Turistas."

Penn co-starred in the film "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and its upcoming sequel and had a role last season on Fox's "24."

Jacobson is on the big screen in "Transformers" and most recently appeared on television in USA Network's miniseries "The Starter Wife."

Dudek most recently appeared in ABC's "Big Day" and had a recurring role on Fox's "Bones."

I love HOUSE, but sadly it's going to be really hard for me to accept this new setup. I thought the chemistry of the old crew worked very well, it's sad they had to change it.

I hope it doesn't reduce any of the shows quality though. As long as they stay true to why HOUSE is popular, then eventually I think i'll be able to get over the new recruits. Who knows, maybe they'll bring the old dr's back via a storyline, I dont know. I don't quite get why they axe'd all three at the end of last season, i'm still confused about that. Aside from "I don't want to be on the show anymore" all 3 leaving is a weird plot twist...

I seriously hope this is some kind of hoax, I was really pissed at the end of last season when they got rid of them all. Cameron got kind of annoying and chase was getting annoying but was ok most of the time, and I liked foreman. They better make these new people equally enthralling or they will lose a huge fan base, myself included.

Granted House and Wilson are the mainstay's of the show (for me) the original 3 doctors were a huge part of the show, they had good chemistry. I wonder why they had to get rid of them, producers thinking they need to mix it up? or did they all want to much money or something.

Things were getting too damned soapy, I welcome this new cast. I don't give a fuck about Chase and Cameron's on again off again relationship and foreman's "I hate this damn establishment but I'm gonna stay here forever" schtick. The core of the show is still there (House, Wilson, and Cutty). It needed to freshen up because though it hadn't gotten stale, it was pretty surely going towards staleness.

I think this could work out for the best. All shows come to an end at some point, and that's usually because they've explored each character fully and already overused most jokes/drama/etc. With a replacement of so much of the cast it gives the opening to continue on with fresh jokes/twists/drama that just wouldn't fit with the old crew. I'm as wary as anyone else about if this cast will work like the last one, but it has the potential to be a lot better. For the most part we all got Foreman, Chase and Cameron and what they were about, we got the easy jokes out of each stereotype and personality type they fit.

Also, if this season goes poorly, they could then bring back the old cast with a much better storyline than if they all came back this season. As well, the old 3 will have some stories from whatever they did between House jobs to advance all of their characters.

I hope these folks can act. I hate to say it (no I don't), but the plots of the show are pretty thin and crappy, the show is great because the actors have such great interactions and chemistry. If they can't carry realistic reactions to House's various antics, people are going to realize that the writers aren't very good and the show will fail.

Another article reporting 5 new doctors and that probably not all will be around for the entire season anyway.

With three doctors + house, the storyline sometimes became convoluted. Now there's going to be 4 assistants and house? I had read somewhere the Omar Epps had re-signed his contract but will not be part of the main cast of doctors. I don't know if that's true or not, but seems it could still be plausible. Oh well, I guess as long as Cuddy and Wilson are there, all will be forgiven.

Omar Epps is still a member of the cast at last check, at least going off a TV Guide article I read about a month ago. I remember reading somewhere else that out of the 3 new characters being added, not all of them are planned to stay on as regulars.

Key word here is 'recurring' role. Sela Ward (Stacey), Chi McBride (Vogler) and David Morse (Tritter) all count as 'recurring' roles. We're not talking 'total replacement' for the team members.

And let's face it, there wasn't much interesting about Chase or (once we found out about her dead husband) Cameron. The best characters of the show (Cuddy, Wilson, House) are all still there for good. And that's all that really matters to me.
