FFXI Fan Festival 2007: 3 BCNMs

So those that were there at the Fan Fest, and did the Live Quest thing, and completed it to get at least First Lieutenant rank. Our reward was a card to register and get the same invites that were available to us at the "Mercenary Camp" and "Heroes and Heroines" BCNM battles that were available (3 total).

Anyone try them out yet? I've personally fought in the Heroines and Mercenary Camp, and they kicked my ass at the Festival. My excuse is they only gave us the basic 6 jobs, without subjobs, AF, and capped at level 60. I'm assuming the last part will be true for the current invites that were given to us, not sure about the no SJ part.

Anyway, I just wanted to collect information fom anyone that's tried this out and used up their invite (you only get one).

Heroes: No idea.

Heroines: You fight Ayame (SAM), Prishe (WHM/MNK) at the same time, then after one is at approximately 25%, Shantotto (BLM) drops in and says sup. God, I hope this fight isn't 60cap.><

Mercenary: You fight the 5 Serpent Generals, in the same fashion like CS Apollyon if fought with the 3 Beastmen Kings. From Left to right, there's Najelith (RNG), Gadalar (DRK?), Rughaajeen (PLD), Zazarg (MNK), and Milhi (WHM). You engage one, and that seems to set the order for the others to come out and engage once your current general is at ~25%. From what we know when we did it, it was Milhi > Rughajeen > Zazarg > other two. I suppose the best strategy would be to right Zazarg first, mainly because then Rughajeen would be fought last because as a PLD, he would of course take the longest time to defeat in this battle. That's all I can say. Milhi's Hexa is no joke.. 1200 damage oneshotted out MNK.

iirc from doing the one with trion and the other guys a long time ago, they are 60cap and sj restricted.

In heroines combat we fought Curilla and Shantotto.

Didn't last long enough to see Prishe or Ayame.

Still have my Cordial Invite from FF06. Haven't had the itch to use it yet.

And yes, it's capped at 60 with no subjob allowed.

When I did fanfest one my PT did relatively well on the Serpent Generals. We got 3 Down including Zazarg and Mihli but when we needed Bene his 2 hour never reset so we ended up wiping there D: I think that one is easiest.

As for the Heroin
Fought Prishe, Curilla. We didn't realize Shantotto uses POS to enter the BCNM so we got worked after that. I played BLM and just tried to out-run/stun Shantotto while the others killed Curilla. Someone ran in front of me and I got stuck and then everyone ate a Tga III and it was GG.

Was looking for infoz on this too; also rewards as well.
Has anyone tried the assault ticket you were given? I'm curious on that one as well.

we beat the heroes (three) at fanfest, but ya I haven't tried the tags yet becuase of what you mentioned. Rewards. It sounds like your tag is one use only so we really wanted to see if there were rewards for beating them ingame first so we know whether or not to really focus and try to win.

Anyone beat any of them ingame yet?


As for heroes strat:

mnk 2hour tank the blm while blm stunned it.

thf kiting pld and war kited war with rdm grav and binding between two. Once blm was dead kill war, then pld.

we had I think only one death so this seems t obe the way to do it. :D

Am I the only one who thinks SE needs to make these available to the general game population? Yes we get it people get to see and do cool stuff if they pay for Fanfest but after it's said and done wouldn't it be neat to add it into the main game? SE has all the coding right there no work required add some cool items to them and bang they'll have another form of time sink for us that actually sounds some what of a challenge.

I did the assault one a few days after coming back from Fanfest.

The goal is to kill as many mobs in 5 minutes as you can. The mobs are on a near-instant respawn time. I think it's considered "won" if you beat 40 of them.

The only reward is the title "Bloody Beserker."

We had PLD MNK RDM RNG DRK DD I think...Really, I think a WHM could knock out a mob by himself in a couple hits.

Edit-It wasn't a WHM, it was another DD. Sorry about that. =o

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, in The Gathering Storm, all of your party members have a STRONG Regen, Refresh, and Regain effect.

That is correct.

You start with Full everything and regain/regen @30/tick.

Some people in the ls have been meaning to do these for a while, and finally managed to get around to some this weekend. We did the Gathering Storm, and the Heroes BC.

The Gathering Storm takes place on the same map as tier 3 assault. The mobs are a slightly tougher than the ones in Blitzkrieg. They don't come to you like Blitzkrieg assault, they are already spawned and waiting when you enter, just kinda hanging out scattered randomly. The area is different levels, which slows down pulling, and targeting only more so. It'd be most efficient to just designate someone to round up groups. The mobs respawn very quickly, something like 20 seconds later. It's not hard to complete at all, just more fun to try to do better on.

For the Heroes BC I think we over prepared. We were expecting CoP style brutality so we all brought meds/refresh/regen foods etc and full inventories (don't want to lose something that's someone else's one time only item ). It wasn't nearly as hard as any of us had expected though. The setup was PLD, THF, SAM, RDM, SMN, BLM.

Kiting is a challenge in this BC because it's tiny, some stairs and and a circle is it. The THF kited Volker, and the SMN kited Trion, the rest worked to finish Ajido asap. He casted a few -ga 2 spells, and ice spikes which never had their para proc. He was squishy and went down fast. Next pulled Trion. He wasn't much harder, just a lot more HP and def. He used Royal Bash on the SMN once for a whole 95 damage, also used Royal Savior later which said he gained some kind of Protect effect. Cure IVed himself once for 360. BLM was able to aspir him. Volker last, didn't really do much of note. He did seem to do some kind of move accompanied by say, but either it had no name or my equip swapping skipped over it. They all used their respective 2hours, obviously.

Going from the log damage done, I got this for each of their rough HP:
Ajido-Marujido = 1800~2442 HP
Volker = 3500~3800
Trion = 3600~3853

From what I'd heard this BC sounded pretty rough. I think it's probably because at the fanfest players were equipped with mediocre gear and items. With your own gear and people you know, it's not real hard. It is a lot of fun though, and the titles are spiffy Hope we can do Heroines Battle and Serpent Generals sometime.

Edit: You can regain the Heroes BC title in Lower Jeuno bard, Tuh Almobankha, for 700 gil.
