    Warrior Break WeaponSkills

I've been skilling up gaxe since ive always been a rampage only war, and always wanted steel cyclone.

    About these break ws's
    Do they stack?
I use shield break on a mob. Is it worth my time to do it again?, or should I just switch to something else for my 2nd ws.

Are the single effect ws's more potent than the effect of full break? I dont have full break yet,but lsmates tell me it lowers all of what the single breaks do.

You're wasting a potential Raging Rush by even using them once. I guess it doesn't matter much if you're skilling up, but they aren't worth using in anything semi-serious.

    what he said ^

really the effect is so minimal no matter which one you use that the damage you lose just doesnt make up with the crappy effect.

I know in post-RR exp it (ideally) doesn't matter, but -40 evasion (Shield Break) is pretty powerful. Sure, you'll gimp your own total damage, but you will increase everyone else's. It's extremely useful on Lurkers and such, as the effect is approximately the same as 1 or 2 Madrigals depending on resists. Not everything is about your own parser, sometimes you have to suck it up for the good of the party.

To answer the other question, Full Break has only half the effect of the other Breaks. Armor and Weapon are -25%, Shield is -40, Full is 12.5% and -20. Also note that they can be resisted based on elemental strengths and weaknesses.

    Re: Warrior Break WeaponSkills

I use them in campaign or zerg fights if I am starting out with 300 TP and have meditate up anyways.

If it's between 400 dmg from my RR or 1-2 extra hits on a kraken drk or the like, or 1-2 extra misses with seigan down while soloing in campaign, nobody really loses out.

That being said, I wouldn't use it normally, but it never hurts to throw a full break on something if you have other melees around on a long fight, it's a decent duration.

    Re: Warrior Break WeaponSkills

For exp I think they are mostly useless outside of nin or thf mobs, but I use them frequently in campaign, besieged, and some endgame stuff. Throwing shield break on something when you have no thf for faint is pretty nice IMO.

The damage on full break isn't that bad either, it's only slightly weaker than a 100tp steel cyclone, not like it'll be hitting for 0.

EDIT: They are also nice if you are doing something with a small group or low manning something, and you don't necessarily want to raging rush at 100 tp for hate control reasons. Throwing out breaks makes more sense than saving tp in a lot of situations IMO.

As someone else who's skilling up gaxe, I've become enamored by the break line of weaponskills, but I have a question as well.

In terms of endgame situations (god fights, sea crap, etc.), it is worth using them? -40 Evasion is nice, but obviously it's not going to hit -40 evasion every time (I'm assuming), especially when elemental resists are working against you. Yet, it doesn't overwrite other status down effects, or is written over, so I'm working under the assumption that every enfeeble that you can throw on some stuff can help.

Or am I just blowing smoke out of my ass, and just Raging Rush/Steel Cyclone every chance I get?

Really don't know exactly how they work, but from what I remember of information that was around a long long time ago, resists depended on if the monster was weak, neutral, or strong to the element, and it would just be 2x/1x/0x depending on those factors (with 20 and 12.5% being the 1x multipliers for their respective Breaks). However, I have absolutely no idea if that information is still considered valid. As for writing over or being written over by other similar effects, I don't know either (but I think it doesn't overwrite them).

Regardless, they're pretty much always useful in longer fights against more powerful enemies, and Shield Break is situationally useful against highly evasive mobs (since most melee already have plenty attack anyway, Armor Break isn't too great, and Weapon Break is almost always useless).

No effects of the same wording will not stack with the exception of dnc debuffs. Something that reads "the effect of evasion down" in the log will not stack with anything else that reads "effect of evasion down" or "effect of evasion bonus".

    Re: Warrior Break WeaponSkills

Forever ago I was in an XP party on steelshells in Boyahda. Every fight the WAR opened a Darkness chain with Fullbreak, so that the BLM could MB on it. It was like the best party ever. Partly because we obviously had a party with teamwork, but through the unscientific methods of gutfeel, I could tell the steelshells were way easier than the 15 other crabs you XP off of to get to 75 back in those pre-cop days. Personally I feel like Fullbreak added a lot to the ease of that party. With the attack, defense, accuracy, and evasion all lowered by Fullbreak it made the crabs all seem like xping on DC mobs. There were a lot of times where the Nin didnt need to recast his utsu.

Of course it'll lower your results in any parse by using it, but making the mobs pushovers has it's own value. Better than doing a 1k damage WS (or whatever you could pull off at that leve)? I say try using it at the start of a mob and see if you like the difference that it makes. In this world of superfast burns it may not make the difference you'd want, or it could bring that mob down enough for the rest of your PT to trash far faster than they normally could.

more long ago.... in the age of 2003, the only function of war in pt is war/sam and spamming shield break lol... it was before the shield break nerfed where the effect is -25% of evasion instead of -40 evasion.

well, supposely there is a rank for each type of evasion down and evasion up. Where the same rank can be overwrite each other while lower rank can't overwrite higher rank buff and vise versa. Maybe can find the info in gobli studio....

All breaks cept for Full Break are level 1 effects which means any other ability can overwrite a break effect. You can also overwrite level 1 effects with breaks but they will also overwrite your breaks (which makes Shield Break quite inefficient on beetles and armor break quite useless on crabs).

Full Break is a level 3 effect and is generally not overwritten by other abilites (Sand Veil from Antica is the only one I can think of off-head), though since Full Break is earth based basically everything resists it to the bone instead with make it somewhat useless in that respect (with the exception of Couerls).
