I half expected this to be an actual news story on the brutal slaying of Terry Goodkind at the bloodied hands of Sam Raimi. Given the news clippings posted on BG lately, I wouldn't be surprised.

Same ol' shitty Sam Raimi effects, and the acting made me laugh all through the first 10 minutes spoiler. And it seems he changed something that destroys the plot of the book and the ending completely.

With all of the violence, language, and sex in the books, did any of you really think this would translate accurately to a television series?

I know there are ways of conveying the same message, but it will lose a lot of it's impact, I'm sure. I'm really not interested in watching the show <_<

They could have gone the route of one of the stations like Showtime, etc. Dexter gets away with quite a bit, as well as Tudors next year. Glad HBO snapped up RR Martin's (specially with that incest going on!)... I enjoyed that series far more than Goodkinds.

It'll even probably ruin the apple scene! When the books first came out, I was in my early teens and I thought that was super steamy lol.

I don't like what they did about the book, and someone's on an art forum I post at praising the sword of truth show (probably someone trying to promote it). I want to see what he says to me about why Kahlan brought the book, instead of Richard's 'father'. I can't figure out how they'll get around Mord Sith, or even the memorization of the book for the ending


I'll end up watching it for a while, the acting is far better than what I remember Xena and Hercules being. Zedd pisses me off though. He doesn't seem bumbling enough!

Maybe he'll still end up memorizing it to keep it from Darken, but they just didn't want to do a quick flashback to show him doing it when he was younger. Or to give them more material, like a story arc with Darken after the book and Richard destroys it to keep it from him.

While there is another thread about this... The show is being directed or produced (forgot w/) by the same ppl who did Hercules & Xena, so it should be no surprise that it resembles those shows in asthetics. I agree that it's pretty much impossible to translate the book's to PG[13?] TV, it would have to be taken up by HBO or Fox (put in a later time slot). But, Goodkind is supposed to have a large role in the shows production so that's the only saving grace I can think of.

Either way I'm gonna watch it cause I'm a Sword of Truth fan... I may come here and bitch about each weekly episode, but I'll still watch it until it's taken off the air lol
