Subtitles Files?

I recently downloaded [Rec] which is a Spanish movie (apparently it's Scene for Scene quarantine, but [rec] came out first I guess)

anyway, it came with a folder labeled "Subs" but I don't know how to get them to actually display on the video, I'm using VLC and my usual rightclick->"subtitles track" isn't working, and I'm not sure if there's a way I'm supposed to somehow load the subs in another manner

the subs files are:
ika-rec.sfv
ika-recs.sfv
Rec-iKA.idx
Rec-iKA.sub
ika-recs.rar (contains Rec-iKA.sub/.idx)
