Knowing movie

So I just got back from the movies, and I have to say this movie definitely is one of the best so far this year (but that isn't really saying much I guess)
I'd recommend it to see at least once but not a buyer imo.

WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ALIENS, WHY and if it isn't aliens, it's a really warped rendition of some kind of God figure, I saw a lot of Bible allusions within the movie, cliche, but worth a watch.

not really no, hes an MIT instructor in this so he has brains but it falls by the wayside later, also I live in a heavily wooded area in the middle of no where and god those white guys scared the shit out of me, call me a pansy, I looked around a few times before locking my doors tonight <_<

Cage has a pretty good role this time around, probably one of his best films I've seen in a while.

It was a pretty sad movie though.

In the end the entire world is destroyed and everything dies except for a select group of children... and Cage has to watch his son flee the planet while he stays behind to die.

Some scenes were just amazingly shot though, specifically:

The plane crash from the trailer was more amazing and realistic looking in the movie... the explosion special effects were just spectacular.

All in all, like I said in my stupid topic, the movie's plot seemed to unravel towards the end and not make much sense.

If the aliens knew the Earth was going to be destroyed on that date, then why didn't they just take the kids without warning them or anyone else? Why give them the choice? Telling them every disaster seemed to be pretty useless if a solar flare was just going to kill everything.

i almost couldnt stop laughing during the climax though. that shit was stupid as hell!

but i will agree that some of the scenes did look nice.

just like my facebook status says, its probably the worst movie this decade.

Wow I'm actually surprised to hear good things about this movie. From the trailer I thought the CGI was HORRIBLE...also throw in Cage. Maybe I'll have to give this one a look over.

It's from the director of Dark City which is one of my fav sci-fi movies. He knows how to create a mood. I can't wait to see it this weekend.

Anyone else hate nicholas cage? as a british gentleman i hate him, everyone i know (i only know zeeee british) hates him, but every North American i express my hatred too loves him.

Is it some sort of patriotism bull shit you guys are all for? jack bauer/keither sutherland esque persona? kinda thing ... i just think hes awful, although i have enjoyed some of the movies hes in.

I usually enjoy his movies the first time, but when I rewatch them, I wonder why he says the things he does. I have the same thing with Keanu.

I agree with the first reply; Cage plays the same guy in every movie, and I don't really like that guy. I did enjoy The Rock though.

I was looking for a brief plot summary not a step by step killing of the movie. And yeah, having read the final ending I am not even going to watch the movie. First 5 minutes of the movie were amazing and I was watching a pirated filmed-from-the-theatre version

maybe another time but I'd rather watch Naruto filler than this nosedive of a movie

I don't get this comment at all? Nick Cage is far from some sort of national hero? And while Jack Bauer has entered pop culture as the ultimate US badass, Kiefer far from enjoys similiar reverence and if anything I'd say he gets tons of shit for being an alcoholic and giving government interrogators a bad name cause of what happens on 24. What's funny w/ Nick Cage is that half his movies are shit(action) and then he does some amazing comedic/dramatic stuff(Matchstick Men, Family Man, Lord of War, Raising Arizona).

I usually try to never seen anything with Cage, Travolta, and even Keanu at the theaters.

Raising Arizona and Leaving Las Vegas are Good
Pulp Fiction, Grease, and Sat. night Fever(mostly cause the soundtracks is awesome) are good
Keanu I can stand more that the others, it is difficult cause the movies he is in are pretty decent.

Earth stood still, Hairspray, and Bangkok Dangerous are prove of why I dislike them, and wont even rent that shit.

one of my friends that went was annoyed at the ending, I don't take movies for cereal so whatever happens happens, no one said the movie is telling the world thats how it is, the whole point of a movie (most of the time, unless its supposed to be accurate) is that it isn't real
