REQ: Wings of The Goddess JPN

For whatever reason I cannot get Wings of the goddess to work with my japanese POL viewer... I am not sure if this it the right place to post this request but I would really like to get my hands on a japanese version of the Wings of the goddess expansion for PC.

I own both japanese and US copys of the game, for PS2, PC and Xbox 360... I just don't have wings of the goddess in japanese..

Please if anyone can help me out with this please let me know.

You can torrent the JP version on Piratebay. I have it on FTP right now, but not in the mood to rape our bandwidth.

You really shouldnt need JP WotG as the US game is exactly the same. All my NA expansions work fine on my old JP POL.

Seems like an installation error to me, and you need to be more specific of your PC specs, and how you have your POLs set up, etc.

What kind of an error are you getting?

I would double check your installation paths, make sure JP POL and WotG is installed properly, etc.

Reinstall WotG and see if that works. Theres no reason why it shouldnt be working looking at it at a NA vs JP software view.

    Random question.

My PS2 has all the expansions installed on it (hasn't even missed a version update yet, I think.) If I was to play on a new character, I would need all new registration codes, right? If so, would they have to be PS2 registration codes? Could I just get the PC bundle pack for $15 and use the codes from that?

The registration codes are linked to your POL ID so you could install the pc version and log on with your ID and it would work. Torrents of the game and expansions are floating around so you could save 15 bucks.

edit: Oh a new char? If you mean on a separate account or something then you would need to re-buy the game with new codes. You can make 16 chars on the same ID though.

Same System, new Character. The new character just needs WotG access, but I don't want to do the "buy codes online" thing and charge the credit card attached to the account (it's my friend's) so I'd rather spend the $15 and just buy a package. Issue is, the nearest PS2 package is 30 miles away in a major city, and the nearest X-box package is 2 miles away near the supermarket I'm visiting tomorrow. Because I don't need the actual software installed, I'd just be buying it for the codes.

But will X-box expansion registration codes work on a PS2 expansion?

Ok first of all the piratebay torrent was uploaded my a friend of mine, it only includes the japanese vanadiel collection 2006 which has everything up to Treasures, but then he includes the european version of WoTG. We have confirmed, the US and EU versions of WoTG do not work with the JP POL, all others do however, but WoTG broke something so no longer works..

There isn't a workaround for this as I have experimented many times, on multiple machines, with both the EU and NA versions of WoTG, the game works fine until I install WoTG and then it does not recognize the POL directory anymore, it says it is not installed.

I don't need advice on how to make it work, cause it won't work. I just need the japanese version of WoTG. If you can get that to me, or know where I can find it, then please let me know. I am not looking for technical support.

Dont be an ass when people are trying to help you, so get an assey reply.

This isnt a board for 'halp me find a torrent', because it's been asked 100 times already, and has been posted in the past.. If you did a search on the board, I see a JP torrent, and Google brings up a lot of results.

Youre using some crappy games, or your comps suck, because no one here has ever had a problem with NA/EU WotG on JP PoL, and it works fine for me on two different PCs.

he appears to be the only one who has uploaded a JP version torrent... he is pretty "cool" been around since 2003 just like me... anyway that was the one... the only, and if you notice there is no WoTG JP included in the torrent... he has his JP WoTG for PS2... so I can't just get it from him.

All I am looking for is the JP PC version of WoTG, he actually told me to check here so I am doing that... not really sure what else to say.

I'm not really being an ass just not really in the mood to hear how you would fix the problem... I didn't ask how to FIX the problem... this IS the solution to my problem, if you can't help then don't post here... If you do know where to get a JP copy then let me know... we haven't exactly stayed "on topic" in the responses...

As far as "problems" go, if you don't have the problem ,thats great... but I DO have the problem 9001 error to be exact. It won't work for me, and my other friends trying to get it to work... we can sit around and try various things(most of which I have allready tryed for the past year), but the quickest fix is for me to obtain a JP version of WoTG so that is why I have posted here.

Did you play around with the registries?

Look around in Start>Run>regedit, find PlayOnlineUS/JP/EU, change the registry directory to whatever version you're trying to install, change it back to the version of POL you have once you are done installing. That always works for me.

of course I did... this is why I'm saying.. it is not something that can be easily fixed... it works before WoTG even with NA discs... just once I install WoTG it stops functioning and I get a 9001 POL error. I need the JP disc to remedy this situation... or go insane trying to fix it for the rest of my FFXI life.

All my regs look identical... well with the exeption of the US and EU after Playonline

I posted about this when WotG dropped, and it broke my JP install too. Now I can't even have JP FFXI and NA FFXI installed in two seperate places and have them remain working. ONly the last one to be installed will work, while the earlier install will break until I reinstall. I had to install another copy of Windows on a second partition to be able to use Japanese FFXI on my PC again. WotG broke this, and several people confirmed it back when WotG dropped. The registry conversion doesn't work anymore between JP and NA/EU POL/ Conversion between NA and EU still works.

hay bungiefan, long time no see
nice writeup on the jp account thingie btw

I was actually the guy who provided the JP install disc for the WotG torrent; Bungiefan did all the torrent seeding and stuff if I recall correctly but it's been a while, sorry if my memory is foggy.

I don't know where the hell I put the disc, so unfortunately I can't help the OP.

And my apologies in advance if I sound like an ass here, but honestly, if it's been bothering you for the past year to the point where it's driving you "insane," why not just buy it? I even dug up the
    Play-Asia link

It's not exactly cheap, but sure beats losing your mind.

You have to register an account to see the name of the torrent uploader, IIRC.

I did say it includes WotG in the torrent, and if you click the number by the files, you get:

    /wotg/WoTG.part1.rar 47.68 MiB
    /wotg/WoTG.part2.rar 47.68 MiB
    /wotg/WoTG.part3.rar 47.68 MiB

    /wotg/WoTG.part7.rar 47.68 MiB
    /wotg/WoTG.part8.rar 13.68 MiB

Those files are in the torrent at the bottom of the list, and it currently says there are 3 seeders, and there were two when you took the screenshot. Why didn't you download them already? It says 4 expansions in the torrent title, and WotG is the fourth expansion.

I can't seed anymore because my current ISP doesn't allow BitTorrent traffic, and will cancel my contract with a payment penalty if they see me running torrents on their network. I'm stuck with them until near the end of summer because of my contract.

I think some people are confused on what he is looking for... From my understanding is that he:

Ha has a JP Account with expansion up to TOAU installed. And doesn't have WOTG codes. His questions are:

    1. Will the EU/NA version WOTG expansion codes will work on a JP account.
    2. Does the code from the PC/PS2/Xbox360 version.

    The simple answer to:
    1. No, I am pretty sure the codes itself is region specific. My reasoning for this is that in order to make membership changes to an account you need the right language of POL.
    2. This is tricky. There are two types of FFXI installation disc you can buy: collector's edition, and stand-alones.
For collector's edition, my experience with my PS2 2008 version is that it comes with a SINGLE collector's edition code that enables everything, thus it's most likely not multiplatform compatible.
For stand-alones, I am pretty sure they are multiplatform compatible.

Now, put these 2 facts together, you'll probably get the answer that Stand-alone NA/EU expansion codes can not be used to upgrade a JP account because a JP account needs to be accessed from JP POL. And JP POL probably have its own region-specific code. I have not tested this, but I am drawing this from my theory.

Now, the second scenario is that if you have a JP Account that has supposedly already got everything installed but yor EU/US Expansions are not showing up, it's an installation error. What I do is:
    1. Install the "correct" POL in a folder that you won't touch.
    2. Install the JP POL in a folder where you actually intends it to be.
    3. Install all EU/US expansions into that JP POL directory.
    4. Login and Update via JP POL, and it will turn everything into JP FFXI.

What would make this more clear would be you telling us if YOUR ACCOUNT has WOTG registered? If you are trying to register WOTG as well to your account not merely just to play it, I believe you need the right WOTG.

Final note: remember you HAVE to use the "right" POL to make most of the membership changes such as billing, etc.

I'll step in and add my experiences here to avoid any confusion. I currently have 2 JP and 4 NA accounts active and have gone through my fair share of headaches with regional reg codes and collector's/standalone.

    1. Yes, the codes are region-specific, but they are cross-compatible accross all platforms. This is why you might occasionally see threads asking to trade/buy/sell NA/EU/JP codes because if you live in a different region than where your account thinks it lives, it can be hard to buy the correct software.
    2. Regarding the collector's/standalone codes, they are interchangeable in the sense that if you only need WotG, you can just buy a collector's and use that code if that suits you better. And the platform-independent nature of them carries over to this as well. To cite two examples, I used a JP 360 WotG to register it for a JP PC account, and I used an NA PC collector's to register all four expansions on an NA PC trial account which I decided to keep.

On a seperate occasion, I also used a collector's (pre-WotG) to register CoP and ToAU only on an account with Zilart already active, and when you go to input the reg code for an expansion with the "universal" one it comes with, POL will just ask you if you want to register all of the expansions that you can with that key. Now whether you could still use that same code to register Zilart and the base FFXI only since they remain "unused" in a way, I don't really know.

    Hope this helps.

Yea, that's basically what I said except I gave the opposite scenario as using a JP code to register a NA account.

As for using the Collector universal code to partially register expansion, that's really interesting... but if you do, I wonder if you just forfeited a whole new FFXI account by using it ;x

My feeling is that it DOES forfeit the ability to create a "new" ffxi account if you partially register it because wouldn't that leave two POL ID having records pointing to a single POL registration code? :/

What he is looking for is having the JP PC version installed so he can log in with his account. I buy the JP PS2 discs, so I used to do conversion by installing JP POL Viewer and pointing it to my NA install folder, which worked until WotG dropped. Now I have to pick one region or the other on my OS, because both versions won't coexist anymore. Some of us play on the JP version when we need the ability to chat in Japanese, but aren't good enough at it to play through the storyline and actually understand the plot when we do quests and missions, so we also play on the NA version.

WotG can't be converted between Japanese and NA/EU installs, so he needs an actual PC install image for the JP WotG disc. He already has the expansion registered, but can't use it when he's on the JP client.

We already understand the limitations on registration codes, account management, and login ability. It's just that now you have to have two seperate installs paired with a dual OS install to switch between JP and NA PC versions.
