    FFXI crashing PC, help requested.

Yesterday my bros PC started to crash during a CS for ACP in Jeuno. There was no warning or error message that occurred before, during, or after the crash. It was just going fine and then bam black screen, music continued to loop but the graphics completely died, and the computer wouldn't respond (even the second monitor went completely black).

This has only occurred in FFXI and during this particular CS, unfortunately every time he logs in the CS auto starts and eventually the computer will crash.

I'm assuming it's probably the GPU.
Off the top of my head he's running
    GPU: HD 3870
    CPU: Phenom 9850
    4GB of RAM
He's also running Windows XP 32-Bit

Any ideas on whats going on and how to fix it would be awesome. Google didn't really turn up anything useful. We've already tried driver updates, disconnecting second monitor, everything short of grabbing another GPU and testing to see if it's specifically the GPU that is causing the problems.

    Tried a file repair?

Main menu of POL (before you log) > Filecheck > FFXI

    FFXIV Character
    Tsugaru Mifra
    FFXIV Server
    Hyperion
    FFXI Server
    Ragnarok

It's not the GPU if it always crashes on the same scene and only on that scene. If he can get on a mule and move around without problems then it's a file issue in that CS.

    One of three solutions.

A file check that was already mentioned.

    Reinstall FFXI and all expansions.

    Get a new hard drive.
