    Firefox 3.5 Release Date

So yeah. Searched and found a thread about 3.5 Beta 4, but not the actual release. Firefox 3.5 is set to hit the web Tuesday, June 30th, so that means tomorrow/today depending on where you are. This is the full version, not another Release Candidate. Figured I'd create a thread here for people to use with their first impressions, etc. It's not out at the moment, but I'm sure it will be pretty soon.

For those of us not in the loop I guess, can you give us an idea of what 3.5 will improve on over the current 3.0.10?

That thread I linked has some interesting stuff in there, and this video:

    YouTube - What's new in Firefox 3.5?

Private Mode sounds pretty cool to me. Supposed to be a little faster as well.

I've used the created private mode in firefox. Will this one be any different from Chrome's incognito mode or will they achieve the very same thing, but now firefox has it included?

Ah thanks, I think I ninja posted before you linked to something in your original post.

edit: Another video that kinda demonstrates how it's faster as well.

About the awesomebar, I don't think so. :/ I think there will be changes to it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I haven't used Chrome as honestly, I don't trust it. Don't ask why as I don't have a real legit reason for it. Love google, hate Chrome. So I don't know what they'll be doing with it exactly.

Chrome works better for me than Opera/IE/Safari, so I see no reason to hate it. I use it on Flash-heavy sites that tend to crash Firefox frequently. Not Mozilla's fault, but Chrome is much more tolerant of plugins going down than FF is.

i couldn't really find an answer on beta pages or in that link (just skimmed though) - anyone know if they are working on adding support to Windows 7's taskbar in the way that IE shows multiple tabs? as in, 1 IE session with multiple tabs has every tab preview show up when hovering the taskbar's icon - FF currently only shows one. hope that made sense, it's early.

My Windows 7 shows multiple firefox tabs. Not sure what the problem is.

edit: Nevermind, it shows multiple windows... not tabs..

Re: Awesomebar, a friend told me they've added a config option to exclude history and/or bookmarks individually from the address bar...though I'm not sure that will make it behave like a 'classic' address bar.

tbh the current behavior doesn't really bother me, it's much easier to find some sites now since I can, for example, type "zero punc" instead of "www.escapistmagazine" and having to scroll down through the list to find the zero punctuation homepage.

    =/

Desktop web apps and snappiness top next Firefox (Namoroka) plans - Mozilla Links

Use of Aero Glass so Windows Vista and 7 users finally get translucent toolbars. Aero Peek support (in Firefox case, the ability to see tab thumbnails in Windows 7 task bar) is also mentioned but not prioritized yet. Though, after using Windows 7 beta for a few weeks now I believe it’s an obvious P1.
Mozilla is estimating a 10 months release cycle, so we can expect to see Namoroka go final around May 2010.
