NC Soft's Billing

[Correction]

So if Aion comes with the first month of play included, how come I have to buy an extra month before it lets me log into the game?

I preordered and installed the game from their online installer, then I used my Activation Code once I had my retail box in hand. Now I can't log into the game unless I fill out my credit card info or prepay for gametime via PayPal.

Am I misunderstanding what they meant by a free month?

All MMO's I have played.... required you to input some type of payment, before you recieve your first 30 days free.

From what i've read.... you input your payment information, and you wont be billed as long as you cancel your account within the first 30 days.

Guess I'll just have to make a memo to check back after 30 days if I end up not liking this game, then praying their billing dept doesn't fuck up. Hooray for blind faith.

I may have a lot of issues with NC Soft from playing L2 for a long time, but their billing has never been one of them. If they use the same interface through their website for Aion that they did for their other games, then it's extremely easy to change card info, cancel, and reactivate accounts.

You don't get billed when you input the info, they probably just check it against banned accounts' cards or something.

You can just cancel your account after it's been activated, then you don't need to worry about checking back in "X" days before you get billed. But every company always asked for billing info to establish automatic billing

1 month of game time. Activation with a valid credit card or game time card is required.

I found this after clicking on the "Info" button next to the purchase page for the different Aion sets on the list. It is on the bottom of the "includes" list.

I was bored over lunch and decided to look this up since I enjoy reading eula's lol. Bold info I thought pertained to your question. From the Aion User Agreement page, Section 5:

We will automatically charge your chosen method of payment (including, without limitation, credit card, SMS, paysafecard, ELV or NCcoin) on a recurring basis for applicable Account fees or automatically for any Additional Feature purchases, plus any applicable taxes we are required to collect, where you authorize us to do so. All recurring Account fees and Additional Feature of NCcoin purchases are payable in advance. YOU ARE FULLY LIABLE FOR ALL CHARGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT. After opening your Account there is a free trial period, you will not be charged any Account fees if you cancel your Account within the free trial period. The duration of the free trial period will be published in the registration section of the Web Site. Any person who has been a Member is not eligible for any subsequent free trial period. Some companies use this info to put a test check to make sure you have a valid payment source and that there is sufficient funds in the account. I have always noticed that with free first month type deals, they require you to have valid registration of a credit card upon that registration, even if they intend not to take the funds before the 30 day is up.
