    Windows XP Pro not loading USB KB and Mouse

    This hasn't been an issue until recently, when I got a wired KB instead of wireless... when I go to boot up WinXP Black, I get nothing at the login screen. The mouse responds only when I unplug it and plug it back in and the keyboard stops responding when WinXP boots up. Everything works fine in Win7 and the BIOS is set to recognize USB on startup.

    Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    you could potentially try deleting the drivers for such and let it reinstall

    Open regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > CurrentControlSet > Control > Class

    {4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Make sure UpperFilters is set to "kbdclass" without the quotes

    {4D36E96F-E325-11CD-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Make sure UpperFilters is set to "mouclass" without the quotes

    *and yes, all of this except the long hexadecimal parts, remembered by heart, do this 20+ times a day at work.

    I do this in 7 or XP? Should I hook up a PS2 keyboard and edit the windows xp registry?

    Works in any MS OS XP and higher that I know of, and yea, has to be done via PS2, or outside of windows if you have a BARTPE disk, or have downloaded an MRI disk from Geek Squad.
