    Peerblock

I just finally got around to downloading it and it blocks the shit out of everything on my ffxi. I have to disable blocking specific Ips when zoning, cant figure out hot to make it let me login without disabling it. etc etc.
Any tips on how to make it let ffxi through while protecting me from all the other crap?

I had to manually add IPs to the whitelist. Basically when something got blocked, I raced to add it before it disconnects me. I add a range from 0-255 for good measure, idk if it's needed but so far:
    61.195.59.0 - 61.195.59.255
    202.67.56.0 - etc
    219.117.144.0
    219.117.145.0
    219.117.150.0
    219.117.152.0
    219.117.156.0

    includes stuff like salvage, limbus

    click list manager
view lists/permallow.p2b and then add the IPs

Same deal, you get a few moments of "Downloading Data" between zones for time to set allows, but definitely not something I'd try doing during an event or anything since zoning times take awhile as a result. Would be nice to have an XI allow list since they have an SE list @iblocklist.

The first time it happened to me was a salvage run... I thought I disconnected, but no, was just peerblock preventing me from entering. Luckily it counted as me entering salvage rather than d/cing prior, so I was still able to go

For some reason it won't let me upload it in this thread... but if you go to the "Good/Safe Torrent Sites" thread and click on 2nd page (for me anyway), and find my post in that thread it has a FFXI Allow list i uploaded as an attachment.

If you combine it with the "official" list you can get it should allow you to run XI without any issues. Always that possibility I missed some, but its definitely a lot more complete then the "official" one.

Edit: Or an easier way I suppose is click my name and find more post, and it's the first post I made which shows at the very bottom for me.

Edit2: A really good way to do your whitelist with peerblock is to go to:

    http://www.whois-search.com/

Type in the IP address (you can right-click and copy to clipboard in peerblock's list), and search and the results will show all IP's owned by that company in that block. Just rinse and repeat each time something gets blocked, and after a while you should have all possible IP addresses that the company would use whitelisted even if you haven't encountered (blocked) them yet. It's what I did for FFXI and Steam and after about 15 mins of doing that I've never had another thing from either blocked. ^_^
