You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

What's there to be depressed about? It couldn't possibly be over the quality of the movie because honestly from the trailers I'd be surprised if I didnt want to kill myself after watching the entire mov--oooooh I see.

note though I did like avatar but then I didn't have high expectations going into it, so wasn't upset by the "normal plot"

I don't know why but it just seems like I am having a relapse of the Pandora Effect today. I've only scene the movie once, on Jan 2nd, but have plans on seeing it a couple of times this weekend. I've been listening to the soundtrack and other music that reminds me of Avatar, been looking at fan art/fiction, and been designing my own Na'vi (no idea when I'll finish, but he's pretty sweet.). That was helping for the last few days, but today I just feel like crap. I'm really frustrated because I haven't been dreaming a lot since I saw Avatar, so I only really experienced one Pandoran dream, and it is frustrating the hell out of me. It's more than that, though.

But it's a different kind of Pandora Effect this time around - the first time it was just pure hopelessness about earth and just the most intense urge to go to Pandora. I just wanted to leave this hell hole and go right to Pandora - I didn't care who I had to step over to get there, just let me go. Leave this planet and it's pig species to wallow in it's own bullshit until the glorious day when the universe will be rid of it. School was the absolute worst. Like I said before, just looking at people made me physically ill, I had to run into the bathroom at one point because I thought I was going to vomit. I was EXTREMELY close to decking somebody, I didn't care what happened. I was angry for the oh-so-many reasons people have stated before.

But this time around it's different. Of course the underlying issue is the same - I want to go to Pandora, but my feelings toward people now are more intrigue than hate (I'll explain that later on). I wanted to know WHY. WHY did we live a close-knit, Na'vi-like lifestyle for thousands of years in tribes only to end up locking ourselves away in isolation today? WHY do we put something as arbitrary as money above our own planet and survival? Wouldn't our instincts stop us? I have a million WHY questions, but the biggest of all of - If we know modern society simply does not work, WHY do we keep living it? It seems like an easy question to answer, but it's not. We deny natural law in so many ways - George Carlin was right, we are just an evolutionary mistake. The Na'vi live the way humans were always meant to live, and they lead more fulfilling, spiritually uplifting lives on a better planet than we do.

I am also feeling more anarchistic lately - I have had more doubt in organized government now than ever before. We elect politicians to represent WE THE PEOPLE, but we're not being represented anymore, look at recent history - We want good healthcare reform, nothing; we want these wars in the Middle East to end, nothing; We want these damn corporations off our back, nothing. It's obvious those who are supposed to represent us are not anymore. They represent the few with the most, while overlooking the rest of us. RDA is real - Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Exxon Mobil, General Electric, Wal-Mart - all undermining the government of WE THE PEOPLE that the Founding Fathers had in mind. These are the same people with connections to companies like FOX or NBC, which spoon feed us fear and lies every night. Seriously, what do we watch for news every night on local channels? How many nights does the news fail to mention the wars? The poor? The environment? How often is it filler time that is being wasted when they could be covering the REAL issues? What do we see when we watch the national stations? Glenn Beck bawling his eyes out or Limbaugh perpetuating hate and lies. All they do is try and convince people that every little problems is caused by the terrorists, and track who the celebrities are fuckinging now. Compare what you watch on Canadian or European (not BBC - it's corporate bullshit too) television compared to US television. Michael Moore did a good piece about this in "Bowling for Columbine." I went to Barns and Nobel yesterday and saw Glenn Becks "Arguing with Idiots" and Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" on the window displays. I wanted to punch a hole in the glass so fucking much.

I keep seeing that picture of Jake in battle paint, on the Toruk, holding the gun, and I have that longing to be him - it's become by far the image from Avatar that I've thought of the most. These wild fantasies of a violent revolution keep popping up into my head, how we as a people will overthrow our corrupt government once and for all. It would literally be the war to end all wars - because once those corrupt bastards are gone, we'll finally start running the world like we always dream - peacefully and sustainably. Might not be the primitivist utopia so many here (I included), have in mind, but it will be a heck of a lot more like Pandora than the world is today.

Avatar is a movie that has really strengthened my faith. One of the most striking things in the movie for me is that Jake was just an average guy who was given a new body and chosen, from all the people in the universe, to perform this amazing feat that he never in a million years would of thought he was capable of doing. But I got that same feeling – it was great to watch Jake get a new life and save the Na’vi…it was not so great to realize that I had to leave all that behind and return to my 9 to 5 job the next day.

But I continued to think about Avatar and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Avatar really parallels the story of Christianity. The Bible says that God gives us a new life and calls us – specifically, apart from all others – to accomplish a purpose He set out for us (Romans 8:28; Romans 12:6; and 1 Corinthians 12:4 – so you know I’m not making this up!) This is definitely what has turned Avatar from a movie that depressed me, into a movie that made me excited about my own life.

I’d encourage anyone who has the Avatar blues to not settle for feeling depressed after watching such a great movie. You’re not crazy to feel like something’s missing in the real world – just like I realized, there really is something better out there!

so now not only do we have twilight fags, we have avatar fags too eh?
    Spoiler: show

ive got a diabolical plan to kill off both, we tell the avatar fags that to get to whatever the fuck planet they keep dreaming about, they must kill a twilight fag and then commit suicide, we must impress upon them that the killing of the twilight fag is important to their ascent and MUST be done before the suicide. we also impress upon the twilight fags that dying in this way will make them come back as sparkly fairy vampires so they'll be up for it to and not just brutally murdered

spoilered so none of them come here and actually do what i say, by clicking on the spoiler link you're agreeing not to be a fucking idiot and take me seriously i write this part because i KNOW for a FACT that some of these fans of these movies would be stupid enough to do what i said =/

Olde news. I've had to put up with a faggot spamming this depression junk on 4chan's /tv/ since about a week after it's premiere. Between the emos there, and Kaylia here, it's hard to find decent interesting threads on the subject of Avatar.
