Verizon phone suggestions?

My 2 years is up on my current contract, which means I'm eligible for $100 off a new phone and even more when I re-contract. I've been doing a bit of research on Verizon's smart phones, but I prefer taking advice from people who have personal experience with a device. Priorities are as follows:

1) easy to use keyboard
2) nice screen (no point in having a smart phone if I can't read it)
3) ability to tether to my laptop (yeah, I know it's technically not allowed by Verizon)
4) size... I don't like huge, bulky phones
5) a decent camera would be nice, but not absolutely necessary

Any suggestions? I'll be purchasing it this Friday, so any help before then is appreciated!

Please don't suggest another carrier. I live in the middle of Buttfuckville Nowhere and Verizon is the only carrier with decent coverage.

It's freaking ginormous. Barely even fits in your pocket. Kinda need something that I can carry around without wearing jeans that are 2 sizes too big.

But I was in the store playing with the Moto Droid and the ERIS earlier today... the speed of the Moto is WAY faster... I might have to comprimise.

I've only read that the devour is gonna ship running android 1.6 or 2.1...... and supposed to be one of the first android phones with flash on it.

Devour is running Android however with the motoblur framework and skinning. Might be shipped with 1.6 or 2.1 it is unknown at this point.

Also, be sure and give Verizon a big fuck you for all their deceptive business practices. One being tethering without a tethering plan despite having an "unlimited" 5GB/month plan, like I am at the moment with this connection.

The app isn't applicable to you, but WMWifiRouter is the best goddamn app for WiMo phones. Does everything for you, and you can set it up as a router for several machines via wifi or just tether physically via USB.

droid's keyboard is mediocre for a physical keyboard (it feels cramped, doubly so if you have a case on the screen) but outside of a bb with a hardware keyboard, you'd be hard pressed to find one better as anything else i've tried is far worse. as for the screen, outside of the nexus one, it's probably the best on the market. any decent smartphone is going to be big. here's a comparison of a droid to an iphone and it's surprisingly comperable. http://www.jangro.com/gadgets/droid/...ze-comparison/ for usability, there's no better smartphone on the market imo than the n1/droid. if you're on verizon and looking for a smartphone i think there's a fairly strong consensus that there is only 1 decent smartphone on the network and it's what's been said over and over in this thread.

While I qualify this statement with I'll probably get a Nexus One when my next upgrade is available, the keyboard on the HTC Touch Pro 2 is the only cellphone keyboard that hasn't made me rage enough to want to break it. It's not perfect by any means, but it's leaps and bounds better than anything else I've had the displeasure of using.

Only reason my girlfriend hasn't bought a droid is because we're on a tight budget and the data plan is $30/mo. If you're gonna upgrade I would just get the Moto.
