    BG Honeymoon

So me and my fiancee are getting married in 3 months, and we are going to Anaheim for Blizzcon in october, so we are planning our honeymoon around that time. We are aware of the city pass which gives you 3 days at disneyland, universal studios, and san diego zoo admissions, which we do want. We are thinking at least a few days at the Disneyland Hotel (yea, i know super expensive). My question is, would a travel agent be a good idea for a honeymoon. I have no idea if they know about super secret honeymoon rates or anything like that, but looking at the disneyland hotel site, for just 5 nights with the city pass was 2100 dollars, and we are going to need a few more days at another hotel to make sure we get everything we want to do done.

Yea, we were a little sad that due to the economy, we couldn't pull off the big wedding. Would have had about 1/3 of our WoW guild there alone, but we'll just do that for our 5 year or something once the economy picks up and I hopefully get a promotion or two by then.

You need to friend me on facebook as well so we can continue our man love of Orton during non football thread times.

If you're gonna be there for more than 5 days I wouldn't suggest moving hotels honestly, just stay at one for the duration of your trip. Disney hotel would seem nice and such for a honeymoon but if you're going out a lot to go sightseeing or to enjoy that pass(which it sounds like you are) you won't be in your room a lot anyway.

I'd have to agree with Cleverness. What other hotels are you thinking about moving to? I mean, Disneyland Hotel may be nice but... if you're going to be out most of the time and driving to Universal Studios and San Diego (1 hour away for each destination + California traffic), you'll probably be really tired by the end of the day to really enjoy the Disneyland hotel.

Obviously, as a honeymoon, it is nice to enjoy luxurious places like the Disneyland hotel... But it's up to you to determine whether or not it's worth it. $2100 package isn't too bad, I don't think. I'm actually looking for honeymoon ideas as well since I'm getting married in October.

Also, I'm not sure about travel agents. I feel some of them may trying to sell you more (and at a higher price) while others may actually be good at helping you be more thrifty. I guess you may want to shop various travel agents if you think that's a better idea... so you can compare the travel agents to see who has the best deals.

Hope you enjoy Anaheim and Disneyland. Also, there are many other things you can check out around here, too...depending on what you want to do. The San Diego zoo is cool as you have mentioned, but there is also the San Diego wildlife park. That's actually a pretty neat park, too, and it's not the same as the zoo.

Yea, just need to see if I can get some discounts, otherwise I may have to say no on disneyland hotel. No sense breaking the bank for a trip.

Good lawd, i heard my name called from NC... and I just left spain, wtf? While i do tease/hate on Orton, you are my strongest ally in the war against faggotfatliff and tony homo. I'll end up easing up on the orton hate, if only to focus my long-distanced rage on the Cowgirls this year.

Back on topic (i know, how dare i keep to a topic?), congrats in advance on the wedding, i hope all goes well. don't hotel hop, if you can avoid it. while staying at the disney one sounds nice, that motherfucking mouse gets paid (aka, expensive as shit), and walt disney was a racist. therefore, i vote not to pay that asshole's company more than you absolutely must.

This is true, but its fucked up when Sundays come around and the first thing I hear is Jess say "Oh man where is Keith, Orton plays today". See that hate is on some bullshit lol.

Disneyland to Universal Studios is about 45-hour if no traffic (good luck with no traffic... LOL). You're looking more at 1.5 hour drive each way. Plan for this drive being painful.

Disneyland to San Diego is about 1.5 hour if no traffic (also, good luck, Anaheim/Orange/Santa Ana/Irvine can be pretty terrible even if you know all the shortcuts and traffic patterns). I've always planned anywhere in OC to San Diego being about a 2 hour drive.

You might be best off staying the night at/near Disney, spending the first day at Disneyland, spend the night at/near Disney again, get up early and drive to Universal Studios, drive down to San Diego, stay near the Wild Animal Park in San Diego, go to Wild Animal Park the next day. That way you end up not having to get up really really early for the 3rd day of your pass. The down side is Universal Studios to San Diego might take you 3-4 hours with traffic, depending on when you leave.

LA traffic (pretty much the whole area) is bad from 6am - 10am, 11:30am to 1pm, and 4:30pm to 7pm (all freeways, esp the 110, 405, and 5).
OC traffic (Orange/Santa Ana/Irvine/Mission Viejo) is bad about 6am-10am and 4:30pm to 6:30pm (you'll be on the 5 south most of the time).

Honestly I'd try to stay overnight in San Diego if possible instead of driving down there the day of. The Wild Animal Park is amazing and you could probably spend days there just wandering around. The drive down there and back from OC isn't so pleasant.

Universal Studios is kind of a letdown but if you've never been you'll probably like it.

As for Disney hotels, the Grand Californian is really nice, the Disneyland hotel is kind of meh, the Disneyland Pacific Hotel is pretty nice too, but compared to the Grand Californian it's pretty meh as well. If the Disney hotels are too expensive you could look into any of the hotels in the Anaheim and Orange (city not county) area. Most if not all of them should offer shuttle service of some kind to the park.

fyi if you've never been to Disneyland it's pretty tough to see everything in one day, and impossible if you want to see all of California Adventure (lol) and Disneyland in the same day. If you do try to do everything you'll probably be bone tired at the end of the day.

Anyhow... I hope you find any of that helpful. I lived in OC and LA for most of my life and finding the best way to deal with traffic and planning when you want to go where will keep you happy on your trip and not annoyed in stop-and-go freeways.

edit: oh I forgot, the Anaheim Convention Center is across the street from Disneyland (I'm serious, its Disneyland, Katella Ave, Anaheim Convention Center). There's a nice hotel attached to the convention center and then it's just a walk to the park from there. They probably have a shuttle too.

Ghanima's got some good tips. Also, if all else fails, you can always check out sigalert.com for pretty current traffic updates on the freeways in LA and OC. I use that sometimes when I know I'm leaving around rush hour.

Although the time frames ghanima gives isn't so bad... honestly, somehow there always seems to be traffic. It's some Southern Californian conspiracy.

Well the way things are looking is Tuesday we drive down. Wed and most likely thursday is going to be at disneyland. Fri/Sat is blizzcon. Then we have like another week for Universal Studios, San Diego Zoo and another day at Disneyland + whatever else we may want to do split over the course of a week.

As for other hotels, last year we stayed at the Annabella hotel which was close to the convention center, but honestly the $140 a night we paid was so not worth it. Pain in the ass to use AC, bs rules about parking, etc etc. I thought the Best Western me and 4 other people crammed into one room was a much better deal the year before.
