We're missing something on the new KCNMs. It may be as simple as the old Promy ENMs were where you get a memory and bring it back to NPC to trade for one of those items, but there are four new empty memories that were added:

    https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Transient_Remin.
    https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Ageless_Remin.
    https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Rueful_Remin.
    https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Distant_Remin.

Seems odd that they would go out of the way to make the drops acquired like this instead of just loading into a crate, no? Especially when the drops from these fights (if we're correct about those eight items) align directly with the drops from the other new HKC fights (the skill sashes). Maybe it's because they are KC fights instead of HKC fights, I don't know.

The results, as I recall them, were less than rather than just indistinguishable.

Weird . . . they aren't usable and there isn't any usable item for them to turn in to. . . Also, they're Ex. Makes me wonder if you trade them for random rewards from the Jeuno guy or something.

The BBCode put the periods outside of the URLs, so the links in the original post didn't work correctly. I fixed it in the quote.

Unless the sample sizes were absolutely ginormous, less can be statistically insignificant. You need a gigantic number unless you can be absolutely positive that you are controlling for all possible confounding factors like moon phase, number of people in the party or with hate on the mob, level range, in game month and date, personal luck, facing the right direction, if a unicorn is farting when the monster dies, if the monster just went to the grocery store, or any of a who-knows-how-many number of possible factors that we can't even be sure exist or not because the Devs won't tell us how the drop mechanics work. After that you would have to run a t-test or an ANOVA to check for statistical significance on it.

Even I have to scratch my head on this one and say "Math is hard."

This is what I was getting at in my Toreador Ring post.

It's very likely the weapons will be the "rare" drops and require turning into those remnants to the NPC in Jeuno. Hopefully this go around the rate isn't completely debilitating.

That seems kind of unlikely. The memories stack to 12 and we already know one of the (four) weapons drops off an HKCNM, as does one of the belts. Honestly, I think it's more likely that you trade the memories in for "Memoria Sachet." That said, I glanced at the Ru'Lude dialog tables and couldn't see any obvious new lines from the Anima maker.

The FINAL FANTASY XI Test Server has reopened and the new test phase has commenced on Oct. 7, 2011 at 10:00 (PDT) / 17:00 (GMT).

In this test phase, we will be testing several job adjustments as well as updates to battlefields.

For further details, please refer to "Testing in Progress" under "UPDATES."

Those of you who will be participating in the test, please refer to “Regarding the FINAL FANTASY XI Test Server.”

If you participated in the previous test phase, please be aware of the following:
    • All participants—including those who took part in the previous test phase—must submit an application via the "FINAL FANTASY XI Test Server Application Form".
    • All character data from the previous test phase has been deleted. Character data will be copied to the test server once your application has been processed.
    • You may continue to use the test client from the previous test phase. If you uninstalled the client, please download and reinstall it after submitting your application.
    And it's back.

This was such a waste of time.

Also, before you guys go, but, Julian, this stuff isn't new! omg, this isn't new!

Go to http://www.juliandev.com/augtest and do a side-by-side comparison, and you will see how fucking retarded the last update was.

    Suck my dick, SE.

edit: I'm pretty sure the base xml's I used were from the actual update a while back. Some of that stuff was probably fixed between then and now? idk. Honestly I don't really remember. But I'm pretty damn sure I did, because I remember being pissed that there was nothing new in the actual update vs the test server update. I will go grab the current server dats, and run it against those. Thank you for making me waste more time, SE.

Ok... I guess I was using xml dumps from the last test server update, and not the actual update. Updated page, there's pretty much nothing new now.

(At least they fixed all the horrible typos and shit before the actual update. So not as angry at SE anymore, but I still want my dick sucked. )

    i hate test server qq

Statistical insignificance is the correct answer, but what I was pointing out is that one of those people reached the wrong conclusion and stated that TH3 did less than TH4.

I think that the main conclusion of the early TH testing thread was that TH3+ was not statistically different from TH2.

I looked back and it was actually people saying TH3 = TH2+1, which makes no sense to me. Even if we were to grant that TH1 and TH2 had different effects due to their separate listings, the nature of the test (Non-R/EX or NM drop) would make that comment meaningless.

As for the original test, I wonder how much insight the community team has when it comes to TH. Without the numbers, the most we "can" grasp from this is that TH3=TH1+1+1. However, that would be assuming that the community team knows the mechanics of TH. Even though they communicate with players and the Dev team, it's uncertain whether they have such privileged knowledge.

They'll probably just subtract 12 levels from each Helix. Geohelix will be learned at level 50, and be weak(er). Then by level 60 it'll be just as good as Geohelix is now. Makes the most sense, for this change.

On test server, Geohelix is lvl18 (was 61), with Luminohelix at 32. (was 75)

Also, the helix MP cost is like nothing now. 26 MP before arts activation.

Three minutes now. Hope they bumped up the accuracy on it for Voidwatch if nothing else. (Not that people are going to bring a SCH now that Helixes are subbable.)
