I think they are just being cautious because they have no idea how the game works. They started out with trusts being total garbage, and now they are just terrible as they've added better ones and improved the old ones.

You're just being paranoid. There hasn't been an instance of a trust buff giving less than base potency. They wouldn't bother allowing a trust to cast Haste II on you at all if they didn't want players to have full potency. I can understand years of SE letting us down making you expect to be smacked any time they move their hand though.
I have to end up concurring here, no reason for them to release a trust with Haste II if they nerfed its Haste II![]()
Well a 25% haste2 would still be pretty nice! a 20% one too, tbf.
But yeah, I guess I was being pessimistic but as Hitou pointed out I guess that's the result of being let down for so long!![]()
I could see it maybe if it was a special ability... but I can't see them going to the extra effort of taking a spell and changing it's potency just for a trust... partly because I'm sure they are aware that if they attempted to do that it would probably have unintended consequences like by lowering the haste on the spell it ends up giving it such an extreme flurry effect that it's like full time overkill (minus the triple/double shot of course). Or reduces recast to zero or something else semi related
Do they have a shantotto trust yet? (returning player) If so, is it any good?
2. I never liked the first one that much though she is funny but D shantotoo is pretty good
Both shantottos are good for low level XPing. They nuke for more damage than the shitty DD trusts WS for, and shantotto ends up running out of MP right around when they she is ready to be resummoned so it works out well. Too bad ajido-muwhatshisface likes to spam enfeebles instead of nuking or the three of them would make a good taru army.
Kuyin Hathdenna is accuracy +25, ranged accuracy +20 from what I see.
i noticed that star sibyl gives MAB.... did anyone test out all the trusts to see if they give MDB?
I see you beat me to it, but yes Kuyin seems to have an Indi-Precision effect. I tested it at level 99 in no gear and then again in full 119 gear to see if iLv had an effect on her potency, but it seemed to be a constant accuracy +25. I was on MNK at the time so I was unable to check the ranged accuracy bonus.
I am a little disappointed about Kuyin. With gear our accuracy is probably already capped on most things.
It's not that the accuracy buff is bad, it's more than on the type of content you usually deply Trust on you don't really need accuracy...
Either way, each new Geo-like Trust is welcome for me. It's always good to have non-killable options to use.
Is there a ranking of Trusts broken down by DD/Tank, etc.? I am new to post WotG FFXI so I missed out on some of the limited time Trusts (Zeid, Luzaf, Aldo), but with this new campaign I have a pretty large list of Trusts. I just don't know who to use.
I usually roll with Trion, Ayame, and Iron Eater.
Also, a note if they use AoE would be nice too. I found out King Cobra Clamp is AOE during a Colonization Reive...
If you are a dd with any kind of innate survivability, go healer/Joachim/DD of your choice. I've been running with Kupipi, Joachim, and Elivira/Noilleure. Iron Eater's normal attacks hit hard but he uses god awful WS. Mihli is a good DD WHM but she does use an AOE WS, so careful with her.
A large amount of trusts use AoE ws which is why people avoid many of them. As far as what to use it really depends on what job you are and what you're planning to do. If I'm on a 2hand melee I'll use uka a brd and cherukiki or F. coffin for haste. If I'm on blu I'll use uka a brd and mihli cause she's a better healer and I can haste myself. If I'm on smn I'll usually bring a tank (trion or valeneral) a whm and either a brd or moogle for refresh. If you're fighting something you want a stunner for and you don't have stun yourself you can use zied mumor or fablinix. I usually only use Ayame for SC points but she's one of the better melee options now. If I'm just messing around and what a melee I'll usually just use lehko or luzaf though.
The log in campaign trusts tend to cycle so you'll probably see them again before too long. Other than them, I believe everything but mumor can be gained from the current events going on. Though you can only pick one cipher from the red mog pell.
I'll post the Trusts with AoE WS I can remember of the top of my head and someone can correct me if I'm wrong and add to the list what I forget.
Lehko, Lion, Gadalar, Mihli, D. Shantotto, Excenmille (S), Klara, Romaa, Nanaa, Fablinix, Aldo, Gessho, Najelith, Luzaf, Valaineral. Can't remember if any of Prishe or Nashmira's WS are AoE or if Zazaarg uses Spinning attack or not. Otherwise I think that's it.
Generally I'll do ulmia, ayame if mobs have enough hp to skillchain, and 2nd/3rd slot will be F coffin if I can't haste/heal myself and random others depending on the situation if I can. Fab/zeid are decent dds that stun well and dispel. Mumor is a decent stunner as well who dds well and haste sambas. Excemille (s) is decent dps and stags call is very nice
Aldo is also pretty nice. Melees fast and will close a skillchain with almost any ws if he has tp. Also will do things like bully, sa and assassins charge with ws or without
I did some... slight testing... on a lot of trust DDs a few pages back. Bottom of the page ish
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/119360-Trusts/page40
and retested Nanaa/Lekho on the next page over on non-piercing weak enemies. But take these for what you will, they aren't extensive and obviously you'll want to use certain NPCs in certain situations (Ayame for SC for instance). Also, I've recently got Aldo, i really wanna give him a swirl...
edit: also they updated Naja's combat skills so I'll have to retest her.
Aldo is funny but he is more of a pain to test since he wont ws unless someone else does first and if he has one that will skillchain he will use that and whatever one will provide the highest level chain even if that is overall less dmg and I think he has enough elements he can skillchain anything that can be but if you do something that can't be he will still ws though not sure how he choses that.
