    Another headphone advice question

Looking for a set of over the ears bluetooth headphones that support multi device. Want to be able to use it on my PC, Steamdeck and Galaxy Tab without having to play the pair/unpair game.

I don't need anything that a super audiophile would demand due to hearing loss in my left ear. Just needs to sound good, not amazing as I can't tell the difference.

So I was hesitant to order Beats just because of how "popular" they are. However, I've been incredibly pleased with these:

They work with both my Mac and iPhone flawlessly and if I remember to turn them off before putting them away, the battery has a good life too.

I use sony XM4s. i know they do multi-pairing well, plus they're active noise cancelling as a bonus, and battery lasts me an entire day no sweat.
alternatively, bose qc45s are also fairly good and similar in function from what i've heard, but I have no first-hand experience.

i got mine for air travel, but now i use them when I'm going around the house/walking around town.

worth noting the XM4s aren't great for calls from my experience, but maybe it's a "me" issue. either way.

Audeze Maxwells are perhaps the best general purpose wireless headphones out there rn.

I have the Bose QC Ear Buds, and those are great, but no multi connect, and their pairing software is ass. They bricked a pair for me and had to get them warranty replaced lol.

    Maxwells are available on Amazon.

Unless you desperately need noise cancelling, they're the best bang for your buck headphones on the market right now disguised as a gaming headset

    1. In Ear/Over Ear?
    2. Do you want ANC?

For in ear headphones I’d recommend Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless. Audio quality is very good, I am using TW2 which doesn’t support multiconnect but newer ones, TW4 do. Also purchased a pair of Bose QC in ear for wife, she is also very pleased with them. Can’t go wrong w/ either. Heard QC Ultra earbuds are the best out there, with an update recently got multi point but comes with a high price tag. Seems the only viable upgrades for earbuds in your situation since you’ve already got a QC.

Comfort is also important for extended gaming sessions, I found bose slightly more comfortable than the rest. Battery life is more than satisfactory for both of them, with case I don’t remember it being an issue ever. Again, afaik QC’s very recently got an update allowing multiple connections but you may wanna confirm it beforehand.

For over ear, if you are actively seeking a strong noise cancelling QC Ultra are great but then again comes with a high price tag. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless Over Ear (has multipoint), Sony MX and QC are more budget friendly options.

Over. I got some great ear buds I use for the gym (Bose QC2) as well as typically for flying, but prefer over the ear for longer gaming sessions.

There's a pair for sale on HardwareSwap rn. I'm putting in an inquiry myself but I'll move out of the way should you be interested in second-hand.

I have the wired version of these and they are super comfortable:

Reviews everywhere say they are some of the best out there right now.

Seconding these. I have had the XM3s since March 2020. I've tried various Beats, Bose, and Sennheisers over the years, and these are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned. Sound-wise they are easily the equivalent of any pair of Bose headphones that I've ever owned.

do you require simultaneous connections between bluetooth/pc or do you not mind switching? i can talk about my two most recent headphones, and hopefully provide some helpful thoughts.

if it's the former, you could go with the steelseries nova pros and have it kinda do everything you want in a pair of headphones, with some very, very high quality audio. it has a lot of flaws (which i'll point out for comparison's sake), but it's overall a really good headset and i found it pretty convenient to be able to game/whatever on my pc while taking a call on bluetooth.

however, if you don't mind switching back and forth, i really do suggest waiting for the maxwells. i think they should be more expensive but they're kinda superior in most every way for me personally.

comfort - (disclaimer, i use wicked cushions, stock pads are not good at all for me) probably most comfortable headphones i've ever used and a lot more comfortable than the nova pros. with wicked pads on, i imagine i feel like kittens do when they're wrapped up in a blanket lol. nova pros have their ANC mic stuck on the driver inside (bizarre design choice) and you likely would feel that. maxwells are heavier, though, so if that bothers you, you might be unhappy. wearing the nova pros comparatively makes me feel like i'm wearing a crown of feathers.

range/connections - the range is better so i wear them all the way out to my front and back yard all the time with some blips but very fast reconnects once i walked back. the nova pros would start screeching if you went too far out of range (???) and that was no good for me who doesn't like taking off my headset.

audio - i haven't tried out any of the super audiophile stuff but maxwells come with better audio out of the box compared to anything i've used in recent memory (nova pros, logitech gpx, steelseries arctic pro wireless). i'd add that nova pros, once frequencies are dialed in, have fantastic audio as well, though i think still not as good as the maxwells.

battery life - i mean, it's not even close lol. 50h+ battery on maxwells vs the stupid battery swap shit you have to do with the novas. that said, you can find higher capacity batteries for the novas on amazon if that kinda stuff is fine for you.

buttons/volume wheel - novas are just straight bad. maxwells volume wheel sucks too but it's better than the novas.

looks - if you were say going out on a flight, you'll look like less of a dork with the novas, if that matters to you. especially if you got wicked pads, which will make you look like a very thick-headed dork.

quality control/other stuff - meh. something's up with my novas and i basically think they're haunted. they disconnect without me doing anything, before i swapped i would have to re-pair them occasionally, batteries wouldn't seem to charge sometimes, i mean wtf. i'm sending them back to amazon since i have a warranty and my hope is they just give me a full refund.

that said, the maxwells have an apparently not-uncommon issue where the drivers of one or the other side will straight up go bad, and they are kinda delicate given they use planar magnetic drivers. took a few months before my left side went out, i had to RMA it and it cost me shipping and took about 3 weeks. but my issue is that i expect it to happen again and it's just kind of a thing that nobody should be surprised about if it happens to you. additionally, the warranty on it in the US is like 1 year long (i think?) which fuckin blows, so if you do decide to get these ones, try to get one of the 3rd-party warranties that last for a lot longer than that. so if either you (or gred) are looking to buy the ones on hardware swap, i'd say just make sure your warranty stuff is in order.

I don't mind switching if I don't have to keep unpairing/repairing between devices. Don't necessarily need them connected to multiple devices at once.

I may consider the Maxwell's, but at that price point, it's going to be a few months out at least for me.
