FFXIV Random Speculation/Question Thread XI: "How you liking that Beta Phase 5?"

Grid (Treespeak) has the main (map marked) Ixali camp, as well as the nommy one around the mining/botany spots, Ul'dah (BW & Hatalali[marked]) has the mixed camp with amal'jaa lows and high (hata), and a somewhat high at BQ, anyone know if/where the unmarked equivalent is in Limsan terroritory, and what mobs are there?

I can't for the life of me remember where to the the other 0 cost skills. For example, on Pugilist, I have "Light Strike" and know "Heavy Strike" (http://ffxiv.yg.com/skill/heavy-strike?id=22102) exists but can't remember where to get it?

(Presumably, I want them now that my Light Strike isn't spammable.)

You get the other 2 from the PGL guild. Just an FYI, they call cost MP to use.

Sorry, perhaps I'm retarded, but I went to check the Pugilist Guild Marks npc and they don't list Heavy Strike. No other npc in the guild building had anything to offer either. I've already completed my rank 20 Pugilist quest (which is when I thought I was supposed to get it).

Yeah, halfway through a raid I was thinking "WTF, why can't I use Light Strike or Pummel?!" Then I realized I was out of MP. Did any other classes' melee abilities get MP costs slapped on them?

They should have thrown at least a little MP recovery effect into Second Wind because of this change since the class has no other natural way to restore MP outside of disengaging and standing around.

edit: the Pugilist abilities are 'Pummel' and 'Flurry.' 'Heavy Strike' was removed entirely and 'Light Strike' got an MP cost and recast timer.

I have my first 3 commands all those abilities for mashing to get TP back for the next time I evade.

I've never bothered trying to set it up because I usually use the most recently-learned one, but if you evade an attack, is there enough time to get both a 'Haymaker' and a 'Jarring Strike' off? I feel like there is and it would be much nicer use of TP if the timing was right...

edit: It looks like you can, but seems like you gotta' be real quick to make it happen. Probably not worth the extra slot in my abilities.

saw an npc near camp Weeping Vale in Coerthas last night. He was outside of a cave, and told us we were "not allowed to enter."

I wish I took a screenshot, but it seems to me it might be the next dungeon/expansion connection.

I think I've come across that... her refers to the location by name although I forget what it is, and mentions something about not letting anyone in who isn't a follower of the god called the Fury.

They have always been there, you can find several in each zone.

I'm not sure if he realized that, but it's just that it's one of the few blocked-off invisible zone lines that gets referred to by name. There's plenty of others all over the place that you can make a guess as to where they lead (antlion dens, the kobold's mountain, etc), but this one is actually referred to as some sort of sanctuary held in high regard by the Ishgardians.

Did an EXP-grind party for the first time tonight; actually makes the game a bit more enjoyable. However, the exp was still pretty meh (unless 250exp per kill is GOOD in FFXIV). Really need those exp chains!

Judging by your sig you should be getting more, but it depends what youre fighting since things have different base SPs depending on mob type.

For example, Amaljaas have a base SP of 150. The bonus modifier caps at x3 for something +10 levels on yourself, and at R20 you have an additional x1.8 for being low level (low level boost disappears at 24). 150*3*1.8 = 810 solo, in a full party within range the split is .65 = 527 per mob. Once you hit R24, the same mob type +10 levels on you will give 293 in a full party or 450 solo.

I like the idea that Pugilist could eventually get a potentially interesting "job" spread (white monk/brawler/karateka/etc.) once that system is in place by having them actually utilize MP unlike most melee jobs other than Dark Knight. However, it's totally incomplete as-is... and is mostly just an inconvenience. Pretty lame... for now.
