    Sweating

So I feel like it's a recent thing (past year or so) but my pits sweat like there's no tomorrow. I live in Minnesota and it's freezing out, but it doesn't seem to matter, my shirts are always soaked under my arms.

It's getting to a point where it's starting to freak me out. I have some moisture-wick shirts and dark colors that don't show as much and those are great, but if I wanna wear a nice colored short or something it's just a matter of time before I soak through it all. If I wear 3 shirts it delays the soaking, but if I wear one shirt it doesn't make a difference, it'll show through ASAP.

Anyways, it's fucking stupid. This didn't used to happen, it's embarrassing, it's annoying, and it's probably cancer. Any tips how to curb this? Anyone had/have this experience? Maybe it was the fact that I was living in Arizona and it didn't seem abnormal down there, but now that I'm in Minnesota it seems a little ridiculous.....

PS: Tried lots of different deodorants. "Clinical" shit. Nothing makes a difference. I might as well not wear anti-perspirant

How old are you? I had the same problem when I was ~18. I thought I was through the whole puberty thing at that point. It sucked even just sitting around they would sweat like crazy. Nothing I tried really worked worth a damn. Flash forward a year or so and now I hardly sweat out of my armpits at all. Usually have to be working out or lots of physical activity. My brother had the same problem around the same age. Same deal for him. Now that he's older it's less of an issue.
Just give it time. Hopefully it'll fix itself. Also, Under armor shirts underneath normal shirts helped a little bit.

Coincidentally, I live in ND so maybe it's a Scandinavian thing?

To state the obvious, it's worth speaking to a physician about anything 'abnormal' involving your health of physiology. This kind of stuff is what your primary care physician is for - here's hoping you have insurance or some form of coverage to seek professional advice. Something like this could be symptomatic of an unknown-to-you condition; it's worth getting checked out or at least having a chat with your doctor.

    Maybe some things to consider?
    - Have you changed anything drastic about your lifestyle lately? Stopped/started exercising, change in diet, etc.
    - When you started noticing the extra sweating, did you feel like anything else changed?
    - Any trouble sleeping?
    - Change in appetite or diet? (Caffeine intake can induce sweating)
    - Do you feel "hot" or overly warm when you sweat, or do you feel normal? (Whatever feeling "normal" is to you)
    - Are you under more stress lately? New job, relationship, change in school?
    - Have you lost weight? Is your blood pressure up? Do you feel anxious (aside from re: sweating)? --> Could be symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

I sweat a lot too even when it's cold, tried lots of anti-perspirants and none work. It used to be worse I think but it's gotten better. I think it was a combination of being nervous and being stressed which caused me to sweat. Just try to keep airflow going under your arms, it helps to dry it out.

Shave your armpit hair and try the anti-perspriant again

That shits an utter beast, been around for years. If you haven't tried it then give it a shot.

edit: Just saw the clinical thing in the OP. Botox will work however seems a little OTT. Good luck!

If anti-persperant isn't working, at least wear some deodorant for the sake of others. (Not accusing you of doing so, just going on an OP comment)

I have the same issue, certain-dri is the best thing I can recommend but you have to be judicious about following the directions and it takes a few days of application before the effects are seen. Use a deodorant with it and there is really nothing to be done about ruining shirts or the like, it fucking sucks. I've been speaking to my primary about it for years and there is just nothing to be done short of botox / other types of surgeries.

Learn to look good in layers. That's all there is too it. Collared shirts + light material dark colored sweaters = never out of style.

Edit: Also for comparison re: health conditions: I'm in pretty much fantastic shape, farthest you could possibly be from overweight, but I have borderline "dangerous" high blood pressure levels. Has always been an issue since I was young but recently my primary has considered putting me on meds for it if it continues to go up. Don't know how much any of that applies to you.

Also, drink a fuck ton of water or enjoy watching your body fall apart due to constant dehydration. I drink double the "recommended" amount of water a day or more. Basically ~20 cups of water.

Are you sure you're not wearing too much antiperspirant? Over-applying might cause it to kinda melt and soak into shirts. The kind I use is a gel and will do that if I wear too much.

Thanks for the replies. I'm more or less like Sath, in good shape, work out, healthy in most aspects, fit, etc. I probably don't drink enough water. Since moving back to MN it's harder to convince myself that water is awesome and I'm having a hard time staying hydrated. As far as the age thing I'm 24, so that *shouldn't* be an issue. Blood pressure could be it....is there a correlation there for sweating a lot? Even though I'm in pretty good shape my blood pressure runs on the high side. And also, even though I sweat a lot, I smell great! No B.O. or anything like that, it's just a sweating issue. I actually think I smell better than most since I sweat, it tends to activate my deodorant to a crazy degree.

I'd also like to shave the pits...but I fear my Masculinity would take a hit. Does that really help?

So it seems like my options are....diff deodorant (ala Jodwahh), shave, high blood pressure issues, hydration, botox.....

The only lifestyle changes are being a bit less active. A lot of my hobbies in AZ included the outdoors. Skating around everyday, rock climbing a few times a week, playing frisbee a few times a week, running, etc. Although I'm still doing those things, they are way less convenient up in this part of of the country. So my overall activity level has gone down. I'd still say I'm in shape, but it's definitely gotten harder to maintain the lifestyle I had in AZ.

It really could be a lot of things honestly. When I was 18-22 my metabolism was through the roof, I was taking in probably 4,000 calories a day and never gained weight. Shit like that can cause it, as well as thyroid problems, excessive anxiety, etc. Honestly if it's not causing an odor you're lucky, the best thing is to keep yourself as clean as possible to avoid odor causing bacteria and if it bothers you a lot go see a physician.

Also, put anti-persperant on at night before you go to bed, rather than in the morning. The active ingredient takes time to soak into the skin properly, and applying at night allows it that time, without having the chance of it being washed away quickly by sweat or other factors.

    From Consumer Reports:

At night, when people perspire less, more of the antiperspirant's aluminum-based active ingredient is pulled into the sweat ducts. Because there's more antiperspirant present, it more effectively plugs pores.

That signals the sweat glands to reduce or stop perspiration. The effect lasts 24 hours or possibly longer, even after morning bathing. Eventually, the antiperspirant washes away. Blocking perspiration by plugging pores might sound unhealthful, but it's not, medical experts we consulted said.

The shaving your pits thing is so the antiperspirant gets in contact with the skin and doesn't just sit on the hair doing nothing.
