When I open the ff14 executable the login screen comes up but it is blank except for the update page and cancel button. The update page button does nothing.
Was wondering if anyone had the same problem and has run across a fix for this.
I've read on many forums that it has to do with a combination of internet explorer security settings and flash in internet explorer.
The genius development team thought it would be a good idea to use a combination of 3 different companies code on their login screen rather than writing their own.
Anyways, here is what i've tried so far:
1.) Uninstalling/reinstalling 3 different versions of internet explorer
2.) Resetting the internet settings on each of those versions
3.) Uninstalling/reinstalling flash/shockwave on all 3 different versions of IE
4.) Gone through each version of IE and made sure all activex and java options were enabled
5.) Lowered my security settings on each version of IE
6.) Added square-enix.com to the trusted sites section of each version of IE
7.) Tried some command line fixer app that was supposed to reset registry permissions
Answers to common questions:
1.) Antivirus / Firewall: uninstalled antivirus; firewall is default windows and is currently completely off.
2.) I am not on a college campus
3.) My router has firewall exceptions and upnp enabled.
4.) OS: Vista x64 SP2
From what I gather the problem stems from a combination of IE & Flash. The reason I think this is because in firefox I can load the na.finalfantasyxiv.com site fine, however in IE regardless of the version/configuration the site continues to tell me that I need to update to the latest java/flash(which i've done already, in total about 12 times, across 3 different browsers.)
If the two sites(login & na.ffxiv.com) use the same display methods that would show a consistent problem relating to flash/IE.
As a last resort I put in a ticket with square enix support. They'll probably tell me to do all the shit I've already done, or worse, reinstall, which from others experiences doesn't fix the problem either - just delays the inevitable.
Any help would be appreciated, though I have little hope anyone will have a fix, I scoured the internet today for about 10 hours in total with no luck.
Thanks yall.
