2x Xbox 360's Slim dead in one day. What are the chances?

One was purchased from the store last night in a Kinect Bundle ($299.99). Getting the "Open Tray" error.

As for the 360 Slim I already had (for the past 2-3 months now). It also began doing the same thing.

Anyone else hear or come across this yet? I took the new one back to the store already for a refund. As for my current machine, I now have to send it to Microsoft ._.

Just makes me wonder if this is the next-gen RROD under the rug. Seems thousands of users are affected by this but Microsoft won't acknowledge it (nothing new I suppose). This is also my third Xbox to bite the dust, you'd think I would've learned by now lol.

If anyone is wondering what the hell I'm talking about. Its caused by when the laser is stuck in a position and is confused where to go "home". Since the 360 has no auto recalibration fail-safe, or any diagnostic tool to manually reset it. You're pretty much stuck with a laser that wont move, or read anything. That is unless you want to open up your machine and void your fresh warranty.

Considering Microsoft literally did NOTHING about the RROD errors themselves when they made the new model.....This doesn't surprise me. I wish I could help, all I know is when the X thing overheats and unsodders your machine you just wrap it in towels to resodder it lol...

You have the same problem as in the video? I'm not too sure without opening it up....i usually just throw away cd drives when they start doing that shit to me.

I've had like 3 xboxs RROD and one have the laser issue within a year. I'm never going back, even if they do fix that shit. Save yourself the pain and get a ps3, I havn't had 1 problem with mine and I don't have to deal with faggot 13 year olds singing into their mics, or at least not as many.

Exactly why I'm afraid to start enjoying my 360 again. My first one RROD'd 2 years ago and since there I haven't really been on my second much.

Because soon as I start to enjoy it, it will defiantly rrod on me.

Yeah, I only use my 360 for exclusives. Everything multi-platform I always buy on PS3. Although I really shouldn't complain, my 360 has lasted 3 years with no problems (knock on wood) whereas I've had to send my PS3 in twice to get fixed.

If the PS3 had a better game library there wouldn't be much debate at all about the top console this generation. I had a problem with my first generation 360 (thank god for replacement plans) but this one hasn't given me any trouble and I play the shit out of it. It really sucks to see this still happening to people though. I don't know why Microsoft can't fix this shit.

Sent off my 360 slim to repair center in Mesquite, TX today. I was told since its a "new" 360 slim, that it will only be a 6 day turn-around (2 day shipping UPS in, 2 days at facility for swap, 2 day shipping UPS back to me.)

Still debating over ebaying all this garbage when it comes back and going with ME2/PS3 bundle next month. I'm tired of giving Microsoft chances, especially when they promised that the RROD & disc-related issues would be resolved on the new system.

I'm in the same boat, I really only cared about Mass Effect and since it is out for PS3 now there is no reason to mess around with a brobox. Are they really coming out with a PS3+ME2 bundle?

My first Xbox got the laser issue but it was a 50 dollar fix for a new drive. The console was way beyond warranty so I didn't need to worry about voiding it. Hasn't had a problem since.
