    windows 7+regedit BG res question.

So I just got FFXI installed on my new PC, and I can't seem to find where the playonline folder is in the registry editer.
    Here's a pic.

Anyone know how to change the background resolution for FFXI on windows 7?

Click Wow6432Node. That's where your 32 bit apps are stored.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnline US\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI

Is where they are. Key 3 is the BG res width and 4 is the BG res height (the ones you want). For best results set it to twice your overlay resolution if your machine can do it. So 1280x1024 would be 2560x2048 (incase you didn't know these steps.) Different people prefer different increases (25%, 50%, 100% or keep the numbers the same as in 1280x1280). Double overlay seems to work fine for me though, but find whatever works for your eyes and rig best.

Edit: Key 1 and 2 are the overlay res if for some reason you want to do that in the reg, but you can just do that part in FFXI Config tool. Remember when editing the keys to switch them to decimal then type the resolution number in.

In case you still haven't figured it out.

Expand that SquareEnix folder you have currently selected.

Select the Final Fantasy XI folder (this will bring up 25 options in the right hand pane you can edit in there)

There is a whole write up on how to go about doing the graphics portion you're trying to do on ffxiclopedia.

    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Graphics

Go there. If you're PC is decently powerful (2.8ghz+ Quad with a good compatible graphics card 5850+) you should set the resolution settings pretty high like 2560x2048. The guide has more useful info.
