Random trip/vacation by myself

I've been under a lot of stress lately and want to get away, so I've been thinking about taking a trip to see my sister/niece/nephew in FL that I haven't seen in a couple years. Then I thought, hmm, why restrict it to florida, why not somewhere outside the US instead. Plus, seeing them can be a weekend or really short term thing - I kinda want to take a little more than just a few days off.

Flights are pretty cheap right now, I have an exam thursday with spring break starting this monday. I really dislike the class I'm taking and was debating withdrawing so I don't hurt my gpa. Not sure how I'm going to do on this test anyway since I've been a little depressed lately and I really don't want my grade affected.

I've never been anywhere outside of my state other than FL and the east coast. Never have been out of country either. Would like to get as much fun and enjoyment out of it as possible, obviously with a little risk and fear involved.

So yeah, pick the destination that I can enjoy the most alone and get the most out of for 1-4weeks.

If I could go anywhere right now, it would probably be Switzerland or Budapest in Hungary. Do you think you'd want to travel around an area and see a variety of places or just enjoy one area/country? Hitting up Europe would mean you could go anywhere you like in a matter of hours or a day at most, so it opens up a lot of opportunities. Rolling through Prague in the Czech Republic, then heading SW through Germany, France and Spain and then ending in the UK sounds like an amazing vacation, assuming you aren't kidnapped for organ-harvesting or something out of Hostel.

As far as risk and fear goes, I have no idea because I've never been outside the country myself.

If you want to steer away from tropical places, try Europe. Plus, you can pretty much ride trains hella cheap and bounce from country to country.

Backpack around Europe for 4+ weeks. Hostels, $30/night. Ryanair flights within europe can be cheap, or with that kind of budget you could buy a hella awesome train pass and just do whatever the fuck you want.

My 6 week trip doing Dublin - Liverpool - London - Paris - Madrid - Pamplona - Barcelona - Rome - Salzburg - Munich - Rhine River - Brussels - Amsterdam - Dublin during peak (expensive) time of summer cost $5k total, and that was when exchange rates were way worse. $10k would be a boss trip, although you wouldnt need to spend anywhere near that much and still have a sick time for a month.

And obviously you don't need to be that hardcore or aggressive, just depends what you want to get out of it.

London would probably be the easiest, same language, tonnes of things to see, guided tours all over the place, plenty of flights.
It kinda depends on your tastes though, what doo you want to see? Nature? City(ies)? Would you prefer to be relatively stationary or travel across a culture? what's your crime/corruption tolerance levels etc. moar info needed

dont come to FL please. i cant stand you fucking tourists who think that 65 mph is the MAXIMUM you're supposed to drive on 95 because it says so on a sign, while snapping pics of parks and beaches with your shitty metro pcs phones, fumbling between lanes of a 95 year old woman who can't see, and a 16 year old kid learning to drive a stick on his rich dad's ferrari.

FL sucks. its raining. the fishing sucks. the woman suck. the construction sucks. the gas prices, and prices of everything in general suck. the swimming sucks, too. the mean sharks are around, and all the nice sandtiger/nurse and bonnetheads are nowhere to be found and instead we get mean lemon/great white and my least favorite of all, the bullshark. jellyfish are plaguing the sands. the oceans by my house are being used as a 2nd trashcan, by asshole, jersey shore/brooklyn fat, irish, italian 50 year old buttcrack showing couples, who's back is harrier than robin williams, and legs are whiter than my teeth. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else in the US that's more interesting, Boyiee. You seem like a sm0rt guy, im sure you'll figure something out, anyway.

but, europe is amazing..... i dont know what kind of deal zoolander posted, but if i had 2 weeks PTO, i would SO buck that. 5 grand for that tour is a steal. I'm paying 3 grand right now for my permanent residence permit/language courses/vaccination shots, and multiples of tests i need to take in order to start my new life there (im going to go back to school). I should've never visited there. i been there once, and it's like giving a scarface his 1st snort of coke. i need to not only have more of it, but surround myself and live there.

If you have a passport. Fly to Hong Kong then pick any country from there. Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia. South Korea & Japan are expensive and your best option are hostels. 10K might get you 2 weeks if you find the right deal. The other countries for 1Kish you can live like a king for a month.

If you want to stick to North America and have a passport. Get a rental car & drive to NY then to Toronto. Fly to Vancouver then drive to Seattle. Then head south to Las Vegas, San Franciso, LA then across the south back into Florida.

What the others said... $10k would get you around Europe multiple times. Ryanair and Easyjet are the cheapest airlines for swift city-to-city jumps or get a train pass and you're free to go pretty much wherever you want. All big cities have lots of hostels to choose from and in 4 weeks you could see so much. Safety-wise it's pretty damn safe, me and my sister have travelled around a lot both alone as single females and never had any problems whatsoever. Just don't do anything outright stupid like go into certain big city parks after dark etc. but you wouldn't do the same Stateside either. If you have a little portable satnav for your car those often come with the option to set pedestrian mode as well and download maps for Europe (or use whatever mobile phone map apps you might have access to). They make getting around so much more convenient and you're less likely to get lost in some small Italian alleyways and forget where your hostel is. You can get by in English pretty much everywhere as well. If you go now it's springtime which is still outside the main tourist season so you won't hit any big crowds and weather should be ok. Just pack lots of layers with you, it can go from winter to summer and vice versa in a blink of an eye this time of the year. And you're pretty much guaranteed you won't come anywhere near tropical temperatures for another couple of months.

Stay in Belgium, off course! We still don't have a government after 270 days, and nobody gives a shit. Take a trip to Amsterdam for a day, buy lots of weed and smoke it back here while enjoying the best food in the world: fries, mussels, chocolate and a nice beer to top it all off.

Plus, everyone in Flanders speaks English nowadays.

London is great, you can use it as a hub to get the eurostar (packages) to Brussels and Paris.
Or fly to Madrid/Barcelona.

Hotels in London are pretty pricey, but lastminute.com are doing some pretty good "secret hotels" which are imo very good. I booked a 5 star grange hotel for only £120 a night via the secret hotels deal for one of my friend.



If you fancy a taste of the far east as Vagus suggested, you can use several cities as a hub, not just HK.

I'm actually flying to KL next week and using that as a base, to get to Bangkok > Chiangmai, then back to KL to HK, then Tokyo, before flying back to London. If you are in any of those cities, come join me and partyyyyyy

seriously do europe, if this is your first time out of the country this is a very easy and guaranteed way to see way more than you will if you just go to one place like australia/japan/korea/thailand etc.

I don't think I've ever heard someone so accurately describe Florida. Just about that exact statement goes through my head every time i have to deal with typical Boca bullshit.
