The point to repairng items being so time consuming..

Ok so i just started playing Final fantasy 14 and got really annoyed at the fact the repair NPC can only repair up to a point? and also repairing your own gear can sometimes fail? i mean i dont see the point to it, why is SE making everything we do so time consuming and grindy, with even the small things like repair? its bad enough i have to run back to the city everytime my items go low.

does the Final fantasy community like this kinda thing or are there others who think it might be just bullshit?

If you hadn't noticed, XIV's whole shtick is about the crafting/gathering classes being "equal" to combat ones. Repair has to be annoying and inconvenient to give them worth

You can try posting a thread on the official forum. Unfortunately the official forum is filled to the brim with hardcore SE fanboys who, for the most part adore the game in its current state... For me personally the repair system is one of the major turns offs this game has.

I think they were trying to give people a reason to level them instead of just for people trying to make money since once the economy goes under crafting is mostly worthless. I don't mind it too much, but the min. rank requirement needs to be adjusted from 10 ranks under opt. rank or crafting rank to half that.

Once your craft level is about the same as the level needed to craft said item, your repair success rate is like 90-95%.

Also if your class level is same/higher then what your using, the durability goes down very slowly (and more so in a group).

Like I've been using a R48 shield on my gladiator since Lv 20's and R42 sword.
Had to repair it every day several times (about 6-8 hours exping)
Now that I'm R44, I repair my sword about every 3-4 days and my shield once per 1-2 days (I don't use ot much now that everyone just does weak D4D leve where the hyena's hit me like 20-50...

The rest of my gear I repair once a week on average, and my craft gear, I don't repair at all because SE basically says it doesn't matter at all.

Equip gear that's actually your rank and your gear/weapon won't wear as bad.. (and probably get better stats too)

yup, although I don't care too much considering abilities "defensive/offensive abilities -> that little nerf of wearing gear over your level
that as I craft so many crafts no room to be holding "all that stuff"

Yeah, the previous durability degeneration was crazy. I had to repair everything every day which cost me about 50K each time (5K per repair). Now I repair about once a week. I love it (comparitavely). The only issue I have now is that its difficult to find high ranking crafters to repair my high ranking items. If the repair NPC actually took items to 100% I might consider throwing down the gil, since gil is worthless these days...

yup alot the high engd "legit" crafters are somewhat nonexistant now, and the bots are hidden as usual now because their like only "crafters playing". I get alot people asking me to repair their stuff now... ;/

SE's blind eyes to botting is one of the reasons I don't want to play anymore. Why bother when people can just afk bot and speed past me with no re precautions?

If they banned all the botters now then there really wouldn't be very much left, population wise. All server populations are currently on life support as is.

My guess is once the game gets better and they start taking subscriptions they start to bring the hammer down.

Just to have an easy R50, or tired of slowly crafting for endless hours themselves, be able to repair their wn stuff because theirs no one around to do it etc etc.

Theirs many of them, and their still around.

The "lazy botters" as I call it still hide in semi obvious places (uldah pug guild, gladiator guild corner, back of thm guild) The smart ones use instances where you won't ever be seen by anyone most likely! (although I think the untimed instances are shared and if anyone goes in they will see you I think...? but pretty low chance these days)

I'm thinking within the next 3 months with.... battle adjustments, companies, and possible airship+ chocobos with raid dungeons and stuff they may put some actual effort into removing bots and start charging.

Now the real question is, what about the bots that have been grinding out their DoW/DoM/DoL etc all this time while/when SE wasn't even monitoring/checking on them? Its soorta sort of sucks that those people will/probably have gotten away with it ;/

Same thing as JP craft-botters back before NA release that cheated their way to max crafts and made trillions as a result. Same game, different number behind it.

S-E will most likely just let the bots get away with it I personally know a guy in our LS before he was ousted when we caught him botting that has made millions upon millions of gil and have several high crafting classes. We all reported him and he's still botting like nothing else with no action taken which disgusts me.

Then again I doubt FFXIV can ever recover outside of Japan. Dunno about you guys but I'm not interested in playing a MMO where 99% of the player base only speaks Japanese.

it seems SE doesn't listen to their community as much as they should (considering its state coming out of Beta) im guessing they think everything they do is righteous? and think they know what's best?

The new producer has been listening, he's just taking time rebuilding the game is all.
