    Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Just finished a full run through in one night (halloween!) and it was pretty amazingly terrifying. There were like 10 people at one point in our room who would all yell at the top of their lungs whenever you'd just turn a corner and find one of the enemies in the game. I'd definitely recommend the game to anyone who likes the horror-adventure genre games like Penumbra (I think Amnesia is done by the same group as penumbra), there's no actual 'fighting' just puzzle solving and brick-shitting.

Pretty good game all in all.

I played through the demo a while ago. Pretty cool, but a bit too predictable. Didn't really scare me.

First area didn't have any monsters, only sounds and visual effects and shit. Who would've guessed?

The second area only had one monster and you just saw it once and never again after in that area. Pretty basic.

    Spoiler: show
But I liked the water monster scene, didn't see that one coming. Overall it was intense but not scary. I think the main game has a different start so it's probably better.

Need to definitely buy it at some point.

It's definitely more of an intense feeling the whole game rather than a ridiculously scared feeling, although at some points you definitely will shit some serious bricks. A lot of the early monsters are there and then disappear if they don't kill you within a certain time period, but later in the game there are permanent monsters that have certain tricks to getting around them which is fun. The game as a whole was just intense face for like 9 hours.

    @your spoiler
    Spoiler: show
after the splash splash splash monster the game starts to get better and better, that's probably the first really intense encounter you have, it starts to get way better from then on.

Two months is pretty much a necrobump.. but it's better than making a new thread. Someone linked me to a youtube video of someone freaking out to this game, and that prompted me to look into it. It's on sale for 50% off, so $10- and after playing the demo to make sure I went ahead and pulled the trigger. It's definitely a very interesting game. I've decided to play with my secondary monitor turned off, and my room lights turned off. Now I'm debating whether or not I should invest in a good headset since I've been meaning to get one.

One thing I want a second opinion on.. is if I should turn off the hints or not. Learn what to do if I die.. or keep the same suspense of not knowing..

After playing through the game in one sitting, I'll admit that really there wasn't any part in the game when we (as a group) couldn't collectively figure something out almost immediately, the game is fairly straightforward in what you need to do and where you need to go, except the very very last thing you do in the game the rest is fairly laid out for you, except in one part i will say this

there is no fourth pipe, i'm sure that won't give much away but you'll know what i mean when you get there, and really it's a stupid part that we spent like 30 minutes looking for an extra pipe, it was just...just stupid.

With how good and terrifying this game is I'm surprised there isn't a bigger thread

Necrobump because there's free DLC out now.

Just open the launcher and click on the button that says "Justine"

Basically it's nightmare mode, you have no save points and the game closes itself if you die.

It's only like an hour long to make up for it, still scary as fuck.
