Anyone ever send Sennheiser a repair request?

I've had my HD595s for about a year now and starting only a few months into owning them the left part of the headband had a few growing cracks on the semi-flexible gray sleeve that connects the band to the cups. Eventually it got bad enough that there wasn't much plastic holding the left cup onto the headband.

Today it finally gave up and completely snapped off.

Sennheiser claims a repair will only cost $60 (source: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/service...Request_CE.pdf) but has anyone ever actually done this? Just looking for one 'yeah I sent in my pair for non-warranty repairs and it was fine' testimonial here.

I fear they'll just send me a refurbishment with no warranty on parts and I'll keep riding this $60 rental fee because there seems to be no way to keep these headband parts from cracking...

I recently sent back a pair of 555's that were under warranty, and they sent me back a seemingly brand new pair. Took a couple of weeks, but honestly had no trouble with the process. Don't what they do for out-of-warranty repairs, but I would think your experience wouldn't be all that much different.
