Obama officially begins 2012 presidential campaign; how do you feel about voting for him?

    President Obama Launches Re-Election Campaign

President Obama has officially launched his re-election campaign. Earlier today the Obama campaign sent a video to supporters via email and text message. Some analysts predict Obama may raise and spend an unprecedented $1 billion in the campaign.

For those that voted for him, do you intend to vote for him again under current circumstances? If you didn't vote for him, do you intend to vote for him now? Or do you intend to not vote during the next election?

All presidents do dumb shit, but the shit I've seen from this guy... I don't know. It's not even the serious shit, like Obamacare that I'm talking about (which is a terrible idea I'll defend if someone wants to go that route), but he bowed to Saudi's King, which is retarded for several reasons, but most importantly, that culture doesn't even bow... His wife gave a bunch of DVDs to the Queen of England that aren't even formatted to work in EU unless the queen for some reason owns American formatted DVD/BluRay player? Obama himself gave her an iPod with his speech on it...

I think he's a cool person, but I don't know that a cool person is what we need in office. I think what's also kind of important here, who is running against him?

Remember that what i'm really asking for is an assessment of how you guys think he's done so far, and with that in mind, if you would reelect him based on that. In this case, i am not asking to compare him to anyone. So who he might be running against isn't in the equation. In this thread, Obama is running against himself.

I really don't want to, but it depends who the republicans put up. I'm not going to vote for Obama, but I will vote against a repub candidate if they're bad enough

think this goes under the missing option: vote for him for another reason not listed

I don't like a few things he has done, but i also think he could of done a lot worse. Also seeing how a lot of the newly elected governors, senate, etc (R) are doing now will force me to give him another term.

To be frank, I didn't vote and don't usually, but considering how fanatical the Tea Party candidates seem to be, I'd consider his job done so far to be acceptable to a point. I don't like politicians and I believe that until people stop voting career politicians into office the country wont ever be able to undergo significant change. Until government, Federal and State, take a more scientific approach we're stuck with a broken system. That said I'd probably again vote for Obama considering the fanatical alternatives being discussed.

And what exactly would you do more scientifically?

Edit: Government already does a lot of data collecting and processing if that's what you meant. If you meant experimenting on people though, that's a different story.

I guess I don't understand how you could compare him to himself. He'd have to have 2 terms to compare the 2 term to the 1st term baseline.

I didn't vote for him. I didn't even vote. So I guess I wouldn't vote for him again lol.

(Please don't say "You didn't vote, you don't have the right to complain". 1. I'm American, complaining is my birthright. 2. I served in the military, the fact that I fought for the right to vote and didn't use it, doesn't mean I don't get to bitch.)

Seriously, if I was president, it would be just like Starship Troopers. You want to be a civilian, fine, do your thang. You want rights to vote and be a citizen of the country? Serve. 2 years, federal or state government service or military service. 2 years is a drop in the bucket, hundreds of jobs that don't involve holding a gun if that's not your thing. Makes the country strong, gives everyone some kind of skill to build a life on. It's just a perfect system.

Sorry for the derail. Nah, wouldn't vote for him, or anyone else for that matter unless someone was running that I thought deserved my vote.

I didn't vote last election, but was planning on voting for him, but even then I wasn't sold on it till I saw who McCain's running mate was. I will be voting this election though, and until I see who is running, I can't really decide. I'm a registered democrat, but I vote for who best represents me and my idea's. If that means voting independent or republican, then so be it. With how crazy the potential republican candidates seem to be though, I will probably be voting for Obama again.

I mean a scientific approach to the way government is inherently run and operated. Our government is still very political and many appointments to important positions are given to obviously people who support or are connected with a particular party. Instead of scientifically establishing answers to our problems, heads of our political parties instead attempt to reduce opposition so their strategies are implemented rather than the best strategy. Then in retaliation other political parties object to any solution on principle that they aren't being given, what they'd consider fair, access to the discussions or implementation of policy.

I'm not really sure if that makes sense the way it's worded, kind of hard to put it into words without really thinking about wording it carefully, but I was hoping to respond sooner rather than later when the thread gets flooded. I can try to reword it in a bit if you care to wait or whatever.

The bipartisan system means you guys are fucked. The democratic candidate will always be the lesser of 2 evils.

I won't vote for him because I'm tired of presidents who reinforce the thinking that the man sitting in the oval office is worthless and can't push an agenda.

I'm not getting what you're trying to say. Perhaps a specific example of what you would do in a particular field (It looks like you're talking about the Executive office/Bureaucracy)?

Probably will since I've yet to ever vote Republican and I doubt they'll churn out a good candidate. In general, I can't outright damn Obama based on the situation he came into and the overall political sphere. I do think a government offered healthcare option is a good thing, for example, having worked in various steps of the field in the past, seeing costs, and knowing plenty who just plain can't afford to get sick or injured, but its rather obvious the idea is in its infancy and likely getting red-taped to hell and back simply because 'socialism is bad' to the uninformed or arrogantly wealthy. Otherwise, I think we can all be pissed off at the party system antics and how money's clouded Washington no matter how good someone's intentions may have been going into it.

I will only vote for Obama if there is no one else worth voting for on the ballot.

In my opinion, I believe his attitude has been a positive one and he's shed a somewhat positive light on the future of this country. The things he has done, though, have done nothing but contradict what he was elected to do.

If he stopped giving a shit whether people liked him or not, and stopped giving a shit about partisanship, and just pushed his agenda, he might be worth a second term.

Unfortunately, judging by the Repubs and Tea Party and their bullshit, there's no point in voting for anyone else.

Second option. Republican candidate is going to be a Tea Party nutjob in all likelihood, so it's not like there's much of a choice. Maybe he'll stop being such a fucking pussy.

I see most of his "failures" as not fixing shit that was broken when he got here and not going far enough on the things he accomplished.

Given that I wasn't expecting much, he's only been mildly disappointing.

I'd vote for him again, because despite his shortcomings he'll be the best option that will have a chance to win.
