    Video card shopping help

I was hoping someone in this gaming community could help me pick out a new video card.

Currently i use a Nvidia GeForce 250. I'm on FF14, Crysis, and assassin's creed games with it. It's not a bad card and it works just fine with these games, but the onboard fan is so loud on it, that it's annoying to always hear in the background.

I was considering upgrading and was thinking the GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Can anyone give me a review of this card, and the expected noise level it could generate?

    Thanks!

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4135/n...-250-market/16 has some data, though that'd likely apply most to the reference design. A model using a different cooling setup may not perform the same - but based on data there it seems like it's about as quiet as you could hope for in the performance segment.

Using the same card, and a lot of the time the loudness comes from build up dust. Not realizing this I left mine alone for a long time and it continued growing louder until eventually it was making a loud buzzing noise. If you haven't already, consider getting some compressed air and dusting it out. Also reseating the card helped immensely. Fixed all of my previous problems with it and the card is borderline silent.

In terms of the 560 Ti, I've heard it's one of the most amazing cards around at the moment, and have heard no complaints from the people I know that use it in terms of performance, nor noise generation. I was considering upgrading to it myself as well.
