BG Australia: What's there to do in Melbourne?

Hey y'all,

long time reader, first time poster, I wanted to ask if anyone has advice on what to do during my stay in Melbourne. I'll be here till March because I'm currently working on a group project.

I wanted to know a bit more about the night life as well as day time activities and places to explore around the area (right now we're thinking of doing a trip to Tasmania for Australia day, but don't know what to do there).

I haven't been in the south for about 16 years nor could I recommend any reason to go to tasmania there is far more to do in Victoria either along the coast or in the country. I lived near melbourne for years but I was too young to know the melbourne nightlife. Depends on what interests you there are some great mountains for hiking or climbing just a couple of hours out of melbourne and I'm sure lots of other shit to do. You don't mention a partner so there are plenty of pubs and clubs in melbourne to get your wick and your whistle wet just watch out for wankers there will be plenty on Australia Day. it's our july 4th and just an excuse to get pissed more than anything but it brings the bogans out in droves lol my advice is to find a good local pub and have some good aussie beer. that's what the rest of the country will be doing.

Night life in melb is pretty good. Healesville wildlife park is a lil bit NE of city if you want to go gawk at some kangaroos and koalas as most tourists enjoy.

Got vineyards also a bit out of the city you can go around and visit. I dont really know what else off the top of my head, I live in brisbane, and only been down to melb a few times.

Tbh I think melb is one of the more moring aussie cities to visit. Darwin is pretty fun. I dont like sydney, just because its too big imo, but its a nice place to spend a few nights. But yeah, Use google, is all i can honestly reccomend

Havent spent any time in melbourne except for during my final year at school, so cant really recommend any awesome places... however, friend of mine says a bar called "Softbelly" is decent.

I'm just a bit north of you on sunny coast. But yes please forgive our country they tend to go full retard on australia day. Just get drunk and avoid obnoxious bogans and you'll have a good time.
