    Tvs

Hey so I've been in the market for a TV for a little while ago. I currently don't have a TV so it'll be my main one.

Anyways. I'm looking in the 46" + range, and budget is anywhere from around 600-1000. I'd only go 1000 if it was a really good deal.

I also usually get a deal through work that can save me up to 50% off, but right now the website is out of stock, and the deals are almost better in the stores right now.

Plasma is probably what I'm looking for right now. Since my budget isn't really high, the picture quality is nice, and I can deal with the weight/energy/burn in/etc. LED would be ideal but it's just a little pricey for me right now, and I think I can get a lot more of what I want with a plasma.

There's a 50" Panasonic S30 at Best Buy right now for $699 and I'm tempted to go nab it tomm, although there is an ST30 for $729.

I've done a decent amount of research and I"m pretty much ready to buy, I just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone has any more suggestions.

I'm not a huge fan of LCD's. Picture quality isn't as good from anything I've seen, and it's still a little pricier than Plasma from what I can tell. LCD just looks too bright. Plasma looks a bit better for movies and that's mainly what I'll be using it for.

I'm kinda stuck on Plasma or LED

For any budget under $2k plasma is still best bang for the buck, at the top-end LCDs have finally taken over though(which has a lot more to do with fact that Plasma hasn't been researched/pushed for 10yrs and was just coasting along with how much better it was to begin with).

Gonna piggyback your thread instead of making another one >.< I haven't kept up with tv's the last couple of years since buying my last sets but I will be buying a new tv by may when our new den is finished. Looking in the 65" range budget is $4-5k viewing area is in a dark room were viewing distance will be 15-18' (maybe 20 can't remember atm) Tv will be used for your standard blurays/games/tv.

I'm open towards anything but prefer led or plasma and have been most happy with my Panasonic and Samsungs in the past. Tv has to be 3D (kids begging to watch movies at home in 3D on movie night) and I am a stickler for picture quality. Any suggestions on the best brands/models/tech atm? Thanks!

ArchDizzle - going http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/?tag=mncol;bc and sorting by Editor rating wouldn't be a bad first step. For that price range you can buy basically whatever you want.

Cool, I will look through Cnet this weekend, haven't had a chance to check prices in a long time so wasn't sure what the higher end models were down to these days.

    Went with a 46" Panasonic ST30.

Not sure I'll ever use the 3D, but the panel they used is a lot better.

I just newly set it up, but I know calibration is a big thing. Any sites you guys would recommend so I can get the picture quality the way I want it?

I mean TVs that are going to be advertised as, searchable by, and known for, their LED backlighting.
