Offline and single-player I saw through Shacknews.

Update: The Sims 4 is an offline game. In an updated post, Maxis points out that The Sims 4 "celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience."

I played (read: pirated) sims 3 a while back and had a decent amount of fun. I'd buy the game if it didn't have the stupid base game + 5 billion addons model. 2014 seems a bit far off but I am excite (and cautious) to play again.

Still a long time for them to decide to throw in required connectivity or whatever.

Wait and see after Sim City. Every EA title from now on is a wait and see, with most leaning no.

My guess is this was intended to have social and always on features but Maxis can't afford another Sim City. I would bet my life on it having the partnership DLCs ala Sim City though. Kinda of a shame that there won't be an option for any kind of social features at all (I know I'm in the minority on this), because I had so much fun with multi-player Sims before.

too burned to buy it.. Spore, Sim City... no Sims 4 for me. I think Sims 2 was a better game for its time than Sims 3 currently is so I expect Sims 4 to be worse. I will not allow them to take my money

maybe when it goes on Steam mega sale...

I hope they fix the no building/seeing inside businesses thing. Really made me sad for 3.

Also, I don't think they'd ever do online with Sims, and not because of Simcity. Sims Online was basically an internet orgy fuck fest, and I don't think they want people to remember that.

They're not going to fix rabbit holes because there's no monetary reason for them not to. They'll just keep stringing along expansion packs with new "careers" for you to spend money on.

Hell, the Sims 2 business pack completely trumped each of the sims 3's jobs. I made so much bank running my department store, and it was a lot of fun training and managing the employees.

I hope loading in sims 4 won't take 10+ min like it does in sims 3.

Yes, a newly started family only takes a min or so, but I had one family I had for three or four generations. That shit took like an hour to load. As soon as you do anything like get married and have kids, loading times goes through the roof.

The majority of people playing Sims don't have a SSD, so it is a serious concern that they should try to fix.

I don't have one and it takes like 10 mins to boot up on my computer, every other recently released game takes mere seconds, it is definitely something they should look into fixing.
