6 Strikes is about to start, this is going to suck..

At&T starting 6 Strikes Next Month after a lot of delays

All I can say is this is going to suck. Since I'm unlucky enough to have to use AT&T (I got no choice in the matter) and can't afford a VPN at the moment, I've been sticking to d/ling my anime fansub/toku fansub fixes off IRC and direct download since I believe that's harder to track. One of my friends said use TOR but I'd rather not...But yeah..Thoughts guys?

TOR sucks for downloading and is advised against for torrenting, I don't think you'll be getting notices for anime though (has anyone had one before? Could maybe see it for licensed anime but for fansubs I don't remember them targetting users, normally just fansub groups).

Depending on what you torrent you could look into seedboxes, YourSeedbox is doing a promo atm which is really really cheap but has a tiny storage size of 5GB and limit of two concurrent torrents. Can't personally vouch for the service (waiting for it to activate, for such a low price I thought why the hell not) but saw it recommended on reddit.

I've heard of someone getting notices from downloading toku from TV-Nihon before so I'm just being ultra cautious. They mentioned it on the board oh, about 2 years ago tho haven't heard of it since.

I'll keep a eye on that, Joji; right now money's..just ultra tight. Been working on ways to make spare cash so I can afford nice things. Since most of what I like to download does have IRC bots and direct d/ls available (which I believe is impossible to track WHAT you're d/ling) I'm sticking with that when possible. Better a little caution now than a notice later.

And xerodok; I thought about using tor to torrent until I saw they don't want you to and why; I'd rather leave TOR for people who want to keep free speech around, not to hide my tail! ^^

The real reason not to use tor is that it's stupid slow, and horribly insecure. Not really a problem for what most people use it for, but for torrenting? Fuck no.

at&t has been letting me run month to month without asking me to renew my contract, the only thing I use that would be considered piracy would be Mew-Seek, and I guess Cydia/Installous. think those would be flagged?

The reports are made by the content owners and are of IP-addresses that are associated with copyright infringing activities.
    AT&T is not flagging anything.

Basically, don't use public torrents, and you'll be fine.

I got nailed with 3 notices (downloaded 3 episodes of Bleach to catch up) back when Crunchy Roll got the rights to stream bleach in the states. So yea it can happen for anime.

How is this going to affect something like Firstrow?
